Group Descriptions

High School Pre-Season

This group only available in the fall prior to High School Swim Season beginning.

This group is mainly those High School swimmers having a much higher commitment to training prior to the regular HS season starting. Swimmers will be placed into an appropriate FAST group during HS pre season.  Swimmers will have the option to train for Sectionals with FAST for the month of March for a reduced fee. 

Senior 

Senior  is the highest training group for the Findlay Area Swim Team. These swimmers have a high level of commitment as well as a strong desire to improve. Attendance expectations are very high as well as exceptional work ethic and attitudes. Swimmers in this group may partake in double workouts during the summer months. “Dry land”, after practice workout, is regularly included with emphasis on core strengthening and other out-of-water strength building exercises. The level of “dry land” commitment and intensity must reflect the in water training.

Meet participation is mandatory.

Pre-Senior

The pre-senior group includes 12-14 year olds who have a strong work ethic and are committed. As well, this group is for less committed High School swimmers who are also committed to improving. This group’s training is slightly lighter than Senior 1 and attendance expectations are slightly lower. “Dry land”, after practice workout, is regularly included with emphasis on core strengthening and other out-of-water strength building exercises. The level of “dry land” commitment and intensity must reflect the in water training.

Meet participation is mandatory.

Silver

The Silver group is generally for advanced 10-12 year olds. Most swimmers will be striving to make JO cuts or may already have them. Training is less rigorous than the Senior groups. In this group there is a strong commitment to stroke technique improvement. Attendance requirements are less for this group than the Pre-Senior and Senior groups. “Dry land”, after practice workout, is regularly included with emphasis on core strengthening and other out-of-water strength building exercises. The level of “dry land” commitment and intensity must reflect the in water training.

Regular meet participation is highly encouraged.

Bronze

The Bronze group is mostly made up of novice swimmers that are still working on stroke technique and building endurance. Ages vary greatly in this group, but usually range from 8-12 year olds. Because practices are limited it is important that swimmers in this group attend regularly so they may move up to the next training group. Only with regular attendance can stroke and endurance improvement be upheld.

Local meet participation is encouraged.  This group would include those previously in Patriots and Bronze groups.

Red  

The Red group is the introductory group for FAST.

This group may be split into smaller separate groups to facilitate a better teaching environment. This will be highly dependent on available pool time/space.

Local meet participation is suggested.

 

* Groups are subject to change.  Much will depend on the number of swimmers we have and the ages of those swimmers. 

* The coaching staff will determine where swimmers are placed and when they will be moved to another group.
