Winter 2021 Feb./Mar. SwimGym Practice Information

(February 15-March 11, 2021)

These will still be all virtual at this time.

Program Content

Conditioning and training will be achieved through creative "Swim" training on dry land. Start, turn, finish, pull-out, stroke & kick technique improvement all will be the focus of this program. Practices are written to mimic that which our athletes do during in-water training sessions with staff members there to improve the fundamentals of the athletes in each of these areas. Other topics such as race strategy, pace work, breathing patterns and all are also covered during these sessions. Mirrors, videos, individual demonstrations and more will be used for visual bio-feedback during training sessions.

Special Thanks - Sponsorship Donations

We'd like to take the chance to acknowledge these amazing donations made to GCSTO from Specialty Rolled Metals and from the Funai Corporation.

We'd like to thank Specialty Rolled Metals for become a corporate sponsor of our team. This company donated $7,000 to help insure that we have proper and complete set up of our swim gyms. This donation will pay for all of the mirrors that we will need for on-site attendees to be able to use for visual feedback, the wall mounts that we'll need for bungee cord work, the audio equipment that we will need to insure great audio quality for all attendees, cleaning supplies and more!

We'd also like to thank FUNAI Corporation for donating 6 large screen Android TV's (2 each at 50 inches, 55 inches and 65 inches) which will help us insure greater ability to view (and coach) our virtual attendees. These large size TV's will also be used for viewing of online videos clips of the skills that we will be covering for all attendees and will make these video clips much easier to see for on-site swimmers.

These 2 amazingly generous donations will really help us get this put together well. I will take a few weeks to get in the mirrors now but we can quickly start to put this and everything else together now we have the funds to do so.

Start date is January 4. The schedule is set to go through February 11, 2021 at which time we'll need to revamp the latter half of the season.
