During his first 3 years with the Senior Team, his swimmers broke more than 60 team records and qualified for meets ranging from Age Group State Championships to USAS Winter Nationals. Prior to working with the Senior Team, Chris was part of the Age Group coaching staff (most recently, Head Age Group Coach and Head Level 2 Coach). While working with the age group swimmers, he coached numerous Age Group State Qualifiers and Finalists and Age Group Zone Qualifiers. His athletes broke multiple team records within their respective age groups.

Chris was a two-time High School All American his senior year (100 Fly and 200 Medley Relay). Cheryl Max Coaching Staff

Cheryl Max our Head Novice Coach. "Miss Cheryl", as she is known to so many of her athletes, first became associated with GCSTO in 1998 when her son joined our swimming team. Cheryl quickly became involved in the team as a volunteer. She worked in all aspects of volunteer coordination & meet operations with the team. By 2002 Cheryl was hired to work as a lesson instructor within our GCSS program where she quickly became the most requested instructor on staff. Soon thereafter she was offered the position of Head Novice Coach where she continues as the leader today while still teaching swimming lessons for us as still one of our most sought after and reliable instructors. As our Novice coach she is firm, yet understanding and holds her expectations high for our Novice swimmers. Her patience with younger athletes is amazing and she holds a tremendous ability to maintain control over these younger swimmers in practice so that practices are organized, efficient and effective. She's an absolutely amazing role model for our young swimmers and is one of the most incredible coaches that these swimmers could have as they are introduced to the sport of swimming.

Kasey Pastor Coaching Staff

Kasey Pastor joins us as our Head Level 2 Coach at Columbus Academy this fall. Kasey is a GCSTO alum who has been actively involved in aquatics for many years. She was the Head Coach of the Groveport Flying Fish Swim Team during the summers from 2013 to 2018 when her job responsibilities increased at work forced her to hand that over to her sister, Kori, who is also a GCSTO coach. From 2014-2018 she taught private swimming lessons at the Ohio University Aquatic Center in Athens, OH where she was also Operations Facility Supervisor from 2016-2018. She is currently employed as a Patient Access Coordinator at the Ohio State University Hospitals after graduating from Ohio University in May of 2018 with a major in Health Services and a minor Administration/Business. Through our research she was very much loved by her swimmers and was a very, very active coach setting expectations high for her swimmers. We are extremely excited about Kasey joining the staff as she brings a tremendous amount of strength, energy, knowledge, discipline and enthusiasm to the staff.
