Tigersharks Place 10th at YMCA Long Course Swimming Festival

The Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA Tigersharks Swimming Team placed 10th in the Combined Scoring at the YMCA Long Course Swimming Festival, July 22-25, 2021 at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, North Carolina. The men’s team placed 5th, scoring 298 points while the women’s team placed 16th, scoring 53 points for a combined total of 351 points.

Leading the Tigersharks on the men’s side was Adam Lamping, scoring 62 points by winning the 800 and 1500 Freestyle events, placing 4th in the 400 Free and 10th in the 200 Free.  Owen Taylor scored 61 points, placing 3rd in the 100 Fly and 200 Free, finishing 4th in the 50 Free and 5th in the 100 Free.  Luke Paxton scored 29 points, placing 6th in the 100 Back, 9th in the 100 Fly and 10th in the 100 Free.  Brandon Burke was a first time finalist and scored 13 points, placing 11th in the 800 Free, 13th in the 200 Fly and 14th in the 400 Free.  Jonah Karschnik scored 1 point by placing 16th in the 200 Fly.

On the women’s side, Kelsey McMenemy scored 20 points finishing 6th in the 200 Back, 13th in the 200 IM and 14th in the 400 IM.  Lauren Clippard scored 15 points by placing 4th in the 200 Back.  Brooke Kamstra scored 6 points by placing 11th in the 200 Breast.

Lamping, Taylor, Paxton, Karschnik and McMenemy are all graduating seniors who will continue swimming at college in the fall.  Lamping will attend Xavier University, Taylor will attend the University of Louisville, Paxton will attend The Ohio State University, Karschnik will attend Miami University, and McMenemy will attend and swim for the University of Rhode Island.  Burke, Clippard and Kamstra are all underclassmen and will return to the Tigersharks in the fall.  Practices will resume on Monday September 13th.
