Chris Hadden Head Coach

Chris Hadden is a professionally certified Level IV swim coach with the American Swimming Coaches Association and United States Swimming.  Chris founded the United Swim Association in 2009.  He has coached successful programs in Florida, Louisiana, the Washington, DC area, and Columbus, Ohio.  Chris was a featured speaker at the 2013 World Coach’s Clinic in New Orleans.  He was also featured on the United States Swimming’s Website under “Coaches You Should Know” for the September 2013 issue.  Chris was voted the 2012 Ohio Swimming Age Group Coach of the Year by his peers.  He spent over two years with the National Champion Curl-Burke Swim Club (now Nation's Capital Swim Club) in Washington, DC where he helped train 20 swimmers with 2000 Olympics Trial Cuts.  Five swimmers from this group competed in the 2000 Olympics!  In his career, Chris has produced 24 USA Top 16 Athletes, 77 Ohio State Champions, 10 Florida State Champions, 4 Louisiana State Champions, 14 USA Swimming Academic/Scholastic All Americans and helped produce 5 Olympic athletes.  Chris is very proud of his athlete's accomplishments in High School swimming boasting 14 Ohio State High School Champions to date.  Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University.  Chris served on the Executive Board of Directors for Ohio Swimming for over 9 years.

Matt Celik Head Age Group/S Group Coach

Matt has been the Head Age Group Coach for USA since 2010. What Matt loves about USA is the opportunity to foster the progression of swimmers at every level of our program, from first-time competitor to national team member.  Matt's competitive background includes being named an All-American swimmer at Akron Firestone High School, as well as being a 4-year letter winner and a Big Ten Championship swimmer at The Ohio State University.  Matt is a two time graduate from The Ohio State University and is a Clinical Dietitian with Ohio Health.  

Grant Horton A and U Group Coach

Grant has been coaching with USA since 2015 and part of USA since 2012 when he was a swimmer himself. He coaches U group and A group. He has previously coached at Lifetime Fitness, helping to develop their competitive program in addition to their Masters team, he has also been the head coach of the Hilliard Marlins. Grant has coached 5 swimmers to win 12 individual state championships, has had numerous top 5 state relay finishes, won the 8 & under girls and 9 year old girls high point award during the short course season of 2020, as well as the 10 & under girls high point award during the long course season of 2019. Grant has had numerous swimmers in his groups ranked nationally in the top 100 for their age group. One of Grants favorite things about USA is the growth and progression that takes place in his athletes. When he is not on the pool deck you can find him watching OSU football, attending concerts, or in the office. Grant is a commercial real estate office broker at Colliers. Grant loves the sport and the opportunity to give back to something he is so passionate about.

Pamela Lombardo Assistant Coach

Pam joined the USA coaching staff in 2016.  Pam works with the A and Stripes groups helping swimmers create a great first experience in the sport of swimming.  Pam grew up in Beavercreek and swam competitively for 16 years with the Greater Dayton Swimming Association, Kettering YMCA, Beavercreek YMCA and Beavercreek High School.  Pam competed at the YMCA Nationals.  Pam holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University.  She also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. 

Heath Patterson Assistant Coach

Heath started coaching with USA in 2018.  He was a swim lesson instructor at Aquatic Adventures 7 years prior to joining the USA coaching team.  Heath has over 15 years of experience teaching swimming.  He grew up in a small town in Vermont.  Heath is very excited to share his swimming experience with the non-competitive swim program of USA.

JL Holdsworth Dryland Coach - The Spot

 

JL is a world champion powerlifter, published author and former University of Kentucky strength and conditioning coach. He has competitive best lifts of: 905lb. squat, 775lb. bench press and an 804lb. deadlift. He has been featured in many fitness related magazines including Muscle and Fitness, Men’s Health and T-Nation.  

 

He is a highly sought after speaker and has presented internationally on many topics relating to human performance. He regularly consults with major collegiate, NFL and NHL programs such as The New York Jets, St. Louis Blues, University of Clemson & The Ohio State University.  

 

Originally from Big Rapids, Michigan, JL graduated from Wayne State University (Detroit, Mi) with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in nutrition. He went on to the University of Kentucky and started his masters in coaching. JL left Lexington for Columbus to power lift professionally as a member of Westside Barbell.

 

In 2010 he founded The Spot Athletics and has built that small private training facility into two 20,000sq. ft. locations in the Columbus, OH area. Along with his facilities, JL is the Co-Founder of Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR), an injury prevention and performance system being used by many top sports organizations around the world. RPR is a game changer that can help improve the lives of everyone in the world. In the 18 months since it’s creation, RPR has become a world wide brand with clinics being held in China, Netherlands, Germany and the UK.

 

JL resides in Hilliard, OH with his wife Michelle and their three children, Renik, Avery and Charlie.
