American Energy

Swim Club

In keeping with our philosophy of providing a well-rounded, quality, competitive swimming program for young people of all ages and ability levels, the AESC Swim Club offers six levels of professional technique instruction and training. Coaches will place your child in the most appropriate group to start. They want your child to feel successful in their group, and coaches will move swimmers to the next level only when they feel the swimmer is ready to succeed at that next level.

*Promotions into groups are always at the coach's discretion.

Bronze TEAM

Swimmers in the Bronze group will expand their learning of the sport. Technique is heavily emphasized ; coaches are engaged in teaching stroke technique, starts, and turns. In addition, swimmers learn practice decorum (how to use the pace clock , which side of the lane to swim, and how to safely pass).  In addition to the water side of the sport, children are repeatedly introduced to The AESC Way and what it means to be a member of American Energy Swim Club.  Parents will gain greater understanding of our program as well. Specifically, parents will learn more about swim meets and what it takes to host a meet.

Silver TEAM

The next level in our program is the Silver level. Here, children ages 9-11 +/- 1 year will begin to learn to the opportunities swimming provides (lifeguard, swim instructor, teacher, coach,…) . In addition, children will learn how to set goals and engage in a dialogue with their coach about what they will need to do to reach their goals. Technique is still heavily emphasized and swim- mers begin to explore stroke efficiency. Swimmers will also begin to have stronger level- appropriate workouts steeped in technique and kicking.

It is too early to determine success in any sport, so children are encouraged to explore activities. Your child may, or may not, demonstrate exceptional talent for swimming. It is too early to fore- cast the success of a child at this stage. They are BEGINNING to envision. They are beginning to dream, and they are still exploring. Dreaming and exploration are encouraged. We first had to dream of putting a man on the moon.

Gold TEAM

At the Gold level, swimmers may still be exploring their inter- ests, but as they age they are starting to shorten the list of interests so that pursuit of goals come s into focus. Children, ages 10-12 +/- 1 year, will work with their coach to put their vision into practice. It is important to stress here that at this age of development their bodies are changing THEREFORE technique is still highly stressed at this stage. Swimmers will also begin to experience more difficult practices (compared to Silver) in order to stress , and refine their technique.

Junior and Senior TEAM

Swimmers at this stage of development have narrowed their interests and swimming becomes an area of focus. At these levels , athletes learn, and hopefully understand, the connection between investment of time (and ability and results). It is up to the athlete to determine how important their dreams and goals are. They may also readjust their goals .

At these levels more practices are made available including morning practices. Technique is stressed, and in addition swimmers learn more about training, planning, and taking ownership of their results.
