Kevin Anderson Head Coach/Director of Swimming

Kevin Anderson

Kevin is a proven leader and was selected to fulfill our very ambitious goals. Kevin has come to us from the University of Calgary with excellent credentials, an attitude of success, and a desire to be at the leading edge of our sport. He holds a diploma in High Performance Coaching from the Canadian Sport Institute.  Kevin has placed athletes on every level of Canada’s National Team program and has medal winning athletes at the Junior Pan Pacs and Youth Olympic Games.  He was a coach on the Canadian World University Games Team in 2009, and Canada’s Junior Pan Pacific Team in 2010 and was selected as a coach for Canada’s Junior Team in 2011.  He has earned Swim Canada Youth Coach of the Year honors as well as Alberta Junior Coach of the Year.  He was selected to Swim Canada’s Select Coaches Group where he earned the opportunity to travel to Gold Coast Australia to work with legendary coach Bill Sweetenham and Chris Nesbitt.  His athletes have broken numerous National Age Group Records and have combined to break 4 national records. He is a goal oriented, dedicated and positive coach who has committed himself to producing winning athletes and teams. The Mississauga Aquatic Club has improved tremendously in the 8 years that Kevin has been here and he has instituted a comprehensive curriculum throughout our program that is yielding fantastic results.  The year prior to Kevin assuming the Head Coach role the team placed 75th on the national stage.  During Kevin’s leadership the team has improved to a 4th place finish and the girls placed as high as 2nd in Canada at the National Age Championships.  MSSAC swimmers have won at the National Championships, have made Canada's National Junior Team and have represented our team on countless National and Provincial selection camps.

Nandi Kormendi Assistant Head Coach

Nandi is the Assistant Head Coach and is directly responsible for coaching the Junior National Group. Nandi has been coaching for over 30 years and more recently was the Head Coach of Region of Waterloo (ROW) Swim Club/Wilfrid Laurier University Varsity Team and was also the Head Coach for Cascade Swim Club. He has coached his swimmers to success at every level. Nandi has been on staff for Ontario and Alberta Provincial Tour Teams and the 2005 Canada Games Team. Nandi was part of the National Team Staff on two World Cup meets, the 2002 Pan Pacific Championships and the 2003 World Aquatic Championships. Nandi’s athlete’s have broken 15 Provincial, 5 National Age Group and 4 National Records. Along the way his swimmers have won over 130 Provincial medals, 16 Senior National medals (including 4 Gold) and won Bronze medals at both the Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships. Four of Nandi’s previous swimmers have gone on the represent Canada at the Olympic Games: He played a part in developing Stephanie Richardson (Atlanta ‘96) and Joel Greenshields (Beijing), and led both Mike Brown (Athens, Beijing) and Jillian Tyler (Beijing/London) to the International stage before they made the big show in their University years. Nandi has been awarded OSCA's Coach of the Year Award in 2001 and 2002. In 2005 Nandi was awarded both the ACC National and Junior Coach of the Year awards in Alberta. Nandi has been a speaker at the 2004 and 2005 Alberta Coaches Conference and the 2007 National Coaches Conference.

ARISTEIDIS BOUSOULEGKAS HPAG East Coach

Aristeidis Bousoulegkas has been a Head Coach and Technical Manager in major private clubs in his hometown Thessaloniki, Greece. With over 12 years of experience in creating and coordinating plans for the development of elite athletes, Aristeidis is a true asset to MSSAC.  His leadership abilities, connection with his athletes, skills and passion for coaching have awarded him with many victories at the National Championships with his biggest accomplishment, his athlete Diogenis Tsitouridis placing 16th  worldwide in the 1500m (personal record: 15.20.92) according to2004 Fina World Ranking from January to May 26,2005. Aris received a degree in Physical and Sports Education with a specialization in swimming from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Roman Ramirez HPAG West Coach

Roman Ramirez has been coaching for more than 25 years  in Canada and Mexico.  He was a confounder of one of the  largest  swimming school in Mexico.  He has worked with teams from Ontario, B.C and Manitoba. He has coached swimmers from all ages having swimmers get to the podium at Age Group Nationals and Provincials from ages 12-18. He also has had top swimmers compete in Senior Nationals and the Canadian Trials. He had swimmers qualify in the Junior Canada team as well as the para Junior Canada swim team. He coached and developed swimmer Even VanMoerkerke who participated at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. As well he was a volunteer coach at St. Mary’s catholic high school in Woodstock working with the students.

Andrea Pittis Blue West Coach

Andrea has been coaching with the Mississauga Aquatic Club since 2003.  Andrea has over 25 years of swimming experience as swimmer and coach.  As a swimmer for 15 years Andrea has memories of competing for his home county of Italy and the pride that goes along with that.  He brings the passion of his own memories to his coaching.   Andrea is now dedicated to coaching and education.  He obtained an Honours degree in Physical Education in Florence, Italy, and an Honours degree in Kinesiology at York University in Toronto.  As an age group coach and Head Coach, he has developed national swimmers in Italy and Canada. Andrea believes that young children are always looking for new learning experiences, new challenges and new goals to achieve.  Swimming provides them with the opportunity to learn new skills and build necessary confidence to face and overcome any challenge, and enjoy success.  He believes that swimming provides opportunities to make new friends, develop healthy habits, become independent, earn a good education, and travel. 

Ara Vazquez Blue East and Reg. Dev. Coach

Ara is a hard working, experienced coach who has participated in Swimming Canada National Camps, was invited and participated in many Ontario Swimming Academy camps and also developed the number one 10 and under girls relay team in Canada.  Her 10 and under group while coaching in B.C. won the High Point award at their Regional Championships and her 11-12 group won the High Point award when she was coaching in the Swim Ontario North West region.  While in Manitoba Ara was selected to their Summer Games team.  Ara will bring professional, consistent and experienced coaching to the Blue B squad that will be dependable throughout the year and into the future.  She has been coaching young swimmers and has specialized in this age group throughout her coaching career  Working with her husband, Roman at South Western Aquatics, they helped develop one of Canada’s premiere sprint freestylers, Evan Van Moerkerke who represented Canada at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Nicolette Goncalves Orange B Coach

Nicolette Goncalves has more than 12 years of competitive swimming experience.  After having represented Mississauga Aquatic Club for 8 years she earned a full scholarship to an NCAA Division I institution; California State University, Bakersfield. Nicolette studied Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology and graduated in June of 2016 with two honours. Nicolette served as a team captain for her sophomore, junior and senior years of university. While competing in California she achieved 3 CSUB All-time Top 5 times in the 100 back (third), 200 back (third), and 100 fly (second). Nicolette is a WAC Champion and CSUB record holder in the both the 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays. She is also a CSUB record holder in the 200 and 400 medley relays. Nicolette earned Second Team All-WAC honours in 200 back and 100 fly with a pair of sixth-place finishes at the 2016 WAC Championships.  Academically Nicolette earned All-WAC honours throughout her university career (2012-2016). She ended her swimming career as an inducted member of the California State University Golden Circle, the highest honour bestowed upon a CSUB undergraduate student-athlete serving in the role of leadership.

Chris White Meadowvale A Caloian Orange C and White MV A Coach

Chris has been involved in many sports in his youth. He fell in love with competitive swimming when his son started to compete in 2011. Chris coached novice, junior and senior development groups for Dolphins, WRMS, RAMS Swim team (MM Robinson High School). Chris is coming to Mississauga and brings passion, enthusiasm and the knowledge of the technique required for this sport.

Wendy Babits Orange A Coach and Wave Program Director

Wendy has been a certified swim coach for over 25 years, starting with the GO Kingfish in Ottawa. She has more recently done Adult Swim Improvement at the YMCA and since 2011 she has been the head coach for the HMNCS for both the senior and middle school swim teams. Wendy has been a swim parent since 2004 with children progressing from Wave to High Performance. Personal swim experience includes swimming for the University of Ottawa and then swimming Masters. Wendy has a passion for swimming both on the deck and in the water as a swimmer and is looking forward to coaching the White Program.

Drayton Coolen White Clarkson Coach

Drayton has been coaching for over 20 years in a variety of sports.  He has coached adults, children and teens in the sport of Canoe/Kayak, Dragonboat and now, swimming.  He has been with MSSAC for 3 seasons.  Drayton has his Competition Development coaching qualifications in the sport of Canoe/Kayak and is fully certified as a level 1 coach in swimming.  He has sent athletes to multiple National Championships, the Jr. World Championships, and The Canada Games, and has attended 2 Canada Games as a coach.  Drayton also has a degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University and Bachelor of Education from UofT.  He currently works with the Peel Board of Education when he is not at the pool.  Drayton continues to strive to help every athlete reach their potential.

Riddhi Kohli White Glenforest A and B Coach

Riddhi will be returning to the club this year as lead coach for the White GF groups. She has always had an affinity and love for the water. Having been introduced to the world of competitive swimming at the age of 7 she continued to learn and develop her skills for the next decade eventually transitioning into an instructor and then a competitive swim coach. With 15+ years of combined swimming and coaching experience her goal is to cultivate that passion and joy for the sport within her swimmers as well while continuing to focus on skill development/improvement.
