Tim began as a freshman in high school swimming and playing water polo. After competing in both sports in college he found it was a natural progression into coaching. Starting with a summer only team Tim then helped build several highly successful programs through out the Pacific Northwest. In addition to coaching Newport Swim Team Tim also is the assistant coach for Newport High School. Over the past 4 decade Tim has brought an enthusiastic and dynamic approach to coaching. Teaching confidence through their hard work he has paved the way for very successful athletes at all levels. Tim takes great pride in having many of his former swimmers return to have him coach their children. Helping families raise successful adults through competitive swimming is Tim's ultimate goal. Outside the pool Tim is retired executive chef and culinary educator. Creating in the kitchen for family and friends is truly a pleasure for him.

Hi my name is Maria and I have been swimming for as long as I can remember. I joined my local club team when I was 6 years old and loved it. After swimming on club I joined the high school swimming team in my town. I swam varsity all 4 years. After graduation I moved to Newport where I got a job as a lifeguard I have been life guarding in Newport ever since.
Along with life guarding I have been a swim instructor here for 16 years. I love teaching kids to swim and be safe in and around water. When John asks me if I wanted to coach I said yes. I hope to help swim team kids to find joy in swimming and fitness. I met my husband at the pool and we have two awesome boys together. They both are on NST! I live on a farm with mules, a horse, chickens, fish and two water loving dogs. We hike, hunt, forage, swim, kayak and love out door activities.
I am excited to be part of this NST family!
