Swim Groups Starting September 3rd 

 

Learners

Swimmers must be able to swim a 25 free style with knowledge of backstroke. This is our pre competitive group that will focus on learning how to do all 4 stroke legally. All four competitive strokes must be performed legally for 25 yards for entry onto our competitive groups. Ideal age (but not limited to) is 6-10 years of age. 

 

Dreamers #1 (8 - 10 years old)

This group must be USA Swimming legal at a fairly high level in all four competitive strokes, and be able to do a flip turn and racing dive from the blocks.  Swimmers in this group have mostly 8&U “B” – “A” times or 9-10 C times and/or some “B” times. Stroke technique and race patterns are emphasized, endurance and overall fitness is improved as we build the concept of team unity and support.  Goals are to achieve Oregon Swimming state times.

Swimmers in this group are expected to compete in meets monthly.

We train for 200 IM and 200 free to balance best and worst strokes and eliminate weaknesses. 

 

Dreamers #2 (9 - 10 years old)

Swimmers are experienced and highly motivated 9 -10 year old’s who have demonstrated a commitment to swimming as a competitive sport. These swimmers are mostly “B+” - “A” swimmers with the goal to make State or AG Regionals. Goal setting and achievement are taught and monitored in this group. Swimmers in this group focus on developing through precision, aerobic work, and above all, FUN!!!!

Swimmers in this group should attend at least four to five practices a week. Competitions are expected to remain in the group. 

We train for 200 IM and 200-500 free to balance best and worst strokes and eliminate weaknesses.  This will provide more opportunities for development into senior swimming.

Planners #1 (11 - 12 years old)

These swimmers are 11-12 year old swimmers. Most have year-round swim team experience but may also be committed to other activities in addition to swimming. These swimmers are capable of swimming all 4 competitive strokes consistently without disqualification. 

We put a big emphasis on stroke technique and aerobic training in their workout. This group is geared towards swimmers who are continuing to learn skills such as clock management, some advanced drills, flip turns and starts.

Participation in swim meets is expected.

We train for 200 IM and 200 free to balance best and worst strokes and eliminate weaknesses.

Planners #2 (11-12 years old)

Advanced Age Group swimmers are experienced 11-12 year old swimmers, most have achieved “B” - “A” times with the goal to make State or AG Regionals, and all are committed to swimming and competing in meets. We continue to work on stroke technique, with added race strategy and overall stroke balance. Goal setting and achievement are taught and monitored in this group.

Swimmers in this group should attend at least four to five practices a week. Competitions are expected to remain in the group. 

We train for 400 IM and 500 free and try to balance best and worst strokes to eliminate weaknesses and provide more opportunities for development into senior swimming.

Achievers #1 (13 - 15 years old)

These swimmers are 13 - 15 year old swimmers. Further emphasis is placed on stroke technique, interval training, pacing, aerobic and endurance training are also increased. More advanced drills and training techniques are introduced to improve overall coordination and efficiency in water. This group is geared towards swimmers who are continuing to learn skills such as clock management, some advanced drills, flip turns and starts.

Participation in swim meets is expected.

We train for 200 IM and 500 free to balance best and worst strokes and eliminate weaknesses.

Achievers #2 (13 - 16 years old)

These swimmers are 13 – 14 with “B” times or better, or 15&O who don’t want to make the commitment to the performance group.  Swimmers in this group strive to make State, AG Regionals or Senior Sectional times through hard work and dedication to the sport.  Continued emphasis is placed on technique, pacing with more emphasis being placed on aerobic training.

Swimmers in this group should attend at least four to five practices a week. Competitions are expected to remain in the group. 

We continue train for 400 IM and 500 – 1,650 free to train the whole swimmer and not just their best stroke.

Performance (13 & Over)

These swimmers are 13&O swimmers who are making the commitment to swimming and their performance.  It’s not all about performance, but about committing to be your best to perform at your highest level.  Goals in this group are to qualify for State, AG Regionals, Senior Sectionals, Futures or Juniors. 

Swimmers in this group are expected to make 90% of practices as well as making all the meets.

We continue train for 400 IM and 500 – 1,650 free to train the whole swimmer but start to focus more on their best stroke.
