Corvallis Aquatic Team
2023 Trophy League

Thank you for interest in joining the Corvallis Aquatic Team! Trophy League is our Spring and Summer swim program for new swimmers in K-8th grade. It runs from April 1st through August 15th. Swimmers can join through July with the cost being adjusted based on the start date.

If your swimmer would like to transfer from another team or is in high school, please click here for info on our year-round program.

For those new to competitive swimming:

Children are generally ready to join CAT when they have passed level 6 in the Liquid Degree program (swim lessons offered by Osborn Aquatic Center), or can swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke.  The child should also be comfortable in deep water and be at least 5 years old.

Guidelines for squad placement for new swimmers (may be adjusted after swimmer begins practices and is evaluated by coaches):

Ages 10 & under – Novice - practice up to 3x/week
Ages 11-14 (not yet in high school) – Junior 1A - practice up to 4x/week.

Meets

1. Trophy League Meets. There will be four Trophy League meets open to swimmers in the program. One each month from May through August. These will be in the afternoon from around 4-6pm. Dates are still being finalized and will be posted here once we know when they will be.

Trophy League meets are fun, relaxed meets perfect for the swimmer new to competition. The meets are not mandatory, but swimmers are encouraged to swim in them for experience, fun, and to earn points towards a trophy.  Sign-ups are done online on our website and instructions will be emailed when the sign-ups for a meet are available. If you have any questions about how to sign up for meets, please email Brandon at [email protected]

2. Other Meets. As part of the Trophy League cost, swimmers are registered with USA Swimming and are therefore also eligible to swim in other meets as a part of CAT. There are additional costs in the form of entry fees associated with these meets. Most of them will be “long course” meets, which are swum in 50-meter pools; but one or two (Bend Open and maybe 1 other) will be “short course” meets swum in 25 yard pools and are especially suitable for the newer competitive swimmer. We also have "Fun Meets" during practice times; and a very casual, fun, non-timed meet with the Corvallis Country Club at their pool at the end of the season. If you have any questions about which meets are suitable for your swimmer, please reach out to Brandon.

Fun Stuff

1. Trophies. Each swimmer who participates in Trophy League meets will earn points towards a trophy. Points are accumulated from season to season so your swimmer will continue to receive larger trophies if they continue with CAT. Only those four meets designated as Trophy League will count towards the trophies. Swimmers must earn compete in at least two of the four meets to earn a trophy.

2. Trophy League party. There will be a party at a local park just for Trophy League swimmers and their families. This party will be held on a weekday evening in August, just after the season is over. We will hand out Trophies here, and there will be snacks, games, and other fun activities.

Other Team Business
