Volunteer Positions and Information for the 2022-23 Season!

Laura Connock

Happy Saturday, Marlins Parents!

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Laura Connock, and I am the  Volunteer Coordinator for the Marlins.  We are excited to get started with the 2022-23 Swim Season!  Lots of info to follow, so please do read thru everything, whether you are a first time parent or a seasoned pro.  If you don’t have time to read this email now, note that this and every informational email I send will come via the team News Feed, so be sure to check there when volunteer emails get buried in your inbox.  You can access News Feed via the website, or the On Deck App.

As the season gets underway, we will be holding several home meets that will require volunteer commitments.  The jobs typically open Sunday at 9pm, two weeks prior to meet start for each meet.  There are lots of jobs to fill!  For information about what each of these jobs entails, please click HERE. https://www.teamunify.com/team/oscm/page/parents/job-descriptions .  Each job has specific requirements and it is important you understand what you have signed up for.  Be on time for your job, and know that you have signed up to fill the role for the ENTIRE meet.  Note, some of these jobs mention “EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.”  See below for more info.

Have questions about the new volunteer service credit program?  Here is the tab for more information.  Be sure to read all the way to the bottom for the frequently asked questions section.  https://www.teamunify.com/team/oscm/page/parents/volunteer-requirements  If you have more questions after you read thru everything, reach back to this email.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED positions.  These are Announcers, Officials, Data Board, Head timer, etc.   We are ALWAYS looking for people to train in these positions.

ANNOUNCERS:  If you are interested in learning how to be an announcer, contact me at [email protected] and I will set you up for training.

OFFICIALS: If you are interested in becoming an official, contact Rob Razzano at [email protected]

DATABOARD:  If you are interested in learning the data board or any other “skilled” position, contact Steve Connock at [email protected]

MARSHALLS: USA Swimming has created some new rules regarding Marshall positions.  If you usually do Marshalling, or are thinking it might be a job for you, click here for more information. https://www.teamunify.com/team/oscm/page/news/429544/important-info-regarding-meet-marshal-worker-positions-for-our-upcoming-swim-season

If you are new parent, note that everything you need to know can be found on the Marlins website, so please do take the time to go on the website, click each tab, and read through all of the information.  I remember the days of being brand new to the swim world, and I know it can be overwhelming.  Take the time to read thru everything now, and continue to educate yourself, ask questions of seasoned parents, read thru the meet book for each meet once they are posted, etc.   If you have a volunteer related question, reach back to me.  If you have a question related to your swimmer, reach out to their coaches.   If you are on Facebook, there is an “unofficial” Cincinnati Marlins Parents Page and the seasoned parents on that page are always willing to jump in and answer any questions you may have.

Looking forward to a fun, competitive 2022-23 Swim Season!

GO MARLINS!
