When any KEY Swimmer achieves a YMCA Great Lakes Zone Standard they will be apart of the Zone team. This status, unlike the National Team status, may not be permanent depending on the age of the swimmer. A swimmer must achieve an individual time standard or qualify to compete on a relay at Zones to be apart of the Zone team. Zone swimmers will receive two Zone caps during the year in which they qualify for the YMCA Great Lakes Zone meet. Times swam from March 1st of the year prior will count for the Zone qualification standards. The Zone meet is a great path for younger swimmers on the way to being on the YMCA National team when they are older.
