COVID POLICY UPDATES JANUARY 5, 2022
Union Public Schools is requiring face coverings to be worn inside all of their facilities. Masks are required on deck at the pool, but those not wearing a mask outside of the pool deck will not be challenged. Coaches will remove their masks when swimmers are in the water and can maintain a social distance of 6 feet. We ask everyone to maintain social distance and do everything within our power to reduce the spread of and interruptions caused by COVID-19.

The new process for those who test positive for COVID is as follows:
  • Swimmers and staff with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days from the date of the positive test result.
  • If they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving, without fever for 24 hours, they may return to school on the 6th day.
  • A mask must be worn for the first 5 days (days 6-10) they are back at school to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter. The mask is required, even if a mask exemption was requested.
  • If symptoms have not improved or if the swimmer or staff member has had a fever in the past 24 hours, they should remain in isolation until they meet the above criteria.
  • This plan will be updated in compliance with Union Public Schools.
CLOSE CONTACT:
We will continue to contact trace to the best of our ability (6' cumulative of >15 minutes). Once identified, we will contact those swimmers and their parent/guardian to provide their options:
  • If they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving, without fever for 24 hours, they may return to school on the 6th day.
  • If they are vaccinated, they may choose whether or not to quarantine as long as there are no symptoms being displayed.
  • If they choose to quarantine, this is the process: Quarantine for 5 days and return on day 6 if asymptomatic and without fever for 24 hours.
  • Wearing a mask on deck and inside the Union Pool facility is highly recommended when you cannot maintain 6 feet of social disctance for more than 15 minutes.
