ABOUT US: The SWIMTULSA Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of SWIMTULSA to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each swimmer to the best of HIS/HER abilities.

SWIMTULSA PRACTICE GROUP & SCHEDULES:

Competitive Swimmer: One who participates in USA Swimming meets from novice through national level. "There are no failures in competitive swimming, only different levels of achievement." - unknown

Senior Team - Competitive Swimmers: Coached by Lynne Gorman

Senior team swimmers are the most advanced competitors on SwimTulsa. Swimmers are invited into this group with coach approval. Swimmers in this group are pursuing success at the Sectional, Junior National and Senior National levels of swimming.

Attendance: Senior team swimmers should attend all practices offered to them.

Competition: Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming. Swimmers strive to be successful in all events offered in their age group and work to establish and improve their IMX scores throughout the season by competing at least one USA Swimming meet each month and all eligible championship meets.

      AM: Mornings and Saturdays as announced

      PM: M-F 4:15-6:15 pm at Union Pool 

Long-Course Season, April-Mid-August: 

       AM: M-F 5:30-7 am at Union Pool; Saturdays (8-10:30 am) as announced​ till end of school year

       AM: Starting June 14, 2021 at the McClure Park Pool (7th & Memorial) 6:20am - 8:30am MTWF and 8am-10am Sat.

         PM: M-F 4:15-6:15 pm at Union Pool
 

Gold Team - Competitive Swimmers: Coached by Megan Hall

Experienced competitive swimmers are eligible for the SwimTulsa Gold Team with coach approval. In this group, swimmers learn the mental and physical training skills necessary to be successful senior swimmers.

Attendance: Gold team swimmers are to swim a minimum of 4 practices per week and may add dryland training and morning swimming as their coaches recommend.

Competition: Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming. Swimmers strive to be successful in all events offered in their age group and work to establish and improve their IMX scores throughout the season by competing at least one USA Swimming meet each month and all eligible championship meets.

Blue Team - Competitive Swimmers: Coached by Johanna Slaysman

Graduates of SwimTulsa's White Team and/or experienced competitive swimmers are eligible for this group with coach approval. This training group focuses on further development of competitive swimming skills in a challenging and fun environment. 

Attendance: Ideally Blue team should come at least 3 days a week. More if you can. Attendance is not a requirement at this level. Two morning  practices are offered during the summer. Blue team swimmers ages  11 and over may attend 2 practices per day during the summer. Swimmers ages 10 and under may choose one practice to attend per day.

Competition: Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming. Swimmers strive to be successful in all events offered in their age group, work to establish and improve their IMX scores and to earn the SwimTulsa Competitor Trophy each season by participating in a schedule of meets including the eligible championship meets.

Long-Course Season, April-Mid-August:

White Team - Novice Swimmers Ages 6 and Older: Coached by Katie Koch

Graduates of the SwimAmerica Stroke Team or new swimmers who have mastered swimming 25 meters of all four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) are eligible for this group. This training group focuses on improving stroke technique, learning starts and turns, and understanding competitive swimming.

 

Attendance: White team swimmers should practice 2-3 times per week to be competition ready. Practice attendance is not required at this level. The more you come, the better you get.

 

Competition: Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming and should compete every 6-8 weeks as their schedules permit.
