At the TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Clovis, California, Senior 1 swimmer Ben Miller swam a new best time of 2:00.41 in the 200 meter butterfly, which not only broke his own team record for 17-18 boys, but also is an Olympic Trials qualifying time! This past weekend, at the Summer Blast Meet in Albany, Senior Prep swimmer Ben Glasser broke the team record in the 100 meter breaststroke for 13-14 boys! Ben's time of 1:16.43 was just under the time set last year by Senior 1 swimmer Carson Yoerger. Congratulations to Ben on his new team record! #bestteamever #recordbreaker

***TEAM RECORD ALERT!*** At the first long course meet of the season, the MAC Long Course Invite, Senior Prep swimmer Max Buchwald broke the team record in the 11-12 boys 50 meter backstroke! The previous record was held by current Senior Prep swimmer Kent Pham (36.96) and Max's new time was a speedy 35.11! With an entire long course season ahead of him (Max does not turn 13 until July 28th!), we can't wait to see how many times Max can re-break his new record! Congrats Max! This championship season, our Turtles have been re-writing the record books as multiple team records have been taken down at various championship meets! Head Coach Brad Robbins has been selected by USA Deaf Swimming as the head coach for the World Championship team for 2019! Coach Brad has worked previously with USADS National Team member, and 2018 Deaf Sportsman of the year, Matt Klotz, as well as Deaf American Record holder Sydney Bello. Coach Brad will represent Team USA and travel with a team of 16 deaf athletes to Sao Paolo, Brazil in August, where they will compete in the World Deaf Swimming Championships! This afternoon, Oregon Swimming recognized award winners from the 2017-2018 season. Oregon Swimming traditionally recognizes swimmers who finish in the top 5 for their age group in each competitive event.
