Brad Robbins TTSC Head Coach

Coach Brad joined the TTSC family as the head coach in the fall of 2015. Brad, a Level 4 certified coach with the American Swim Coaches Association (top 8% of certified coaches in the United States), was previously the Aquatics Director and Head Coach for the HOX Swim Team at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, CA, the CEO and Head Coach of the Vacaville Swim team from 2013-2014, and coached for the Sierra Marlins Swim Team in Folsom, California, where he served as the Varsity group coach and Senior group assistant for 5 years from 2008-2013. While coaching with the Marlins, Brad worked with some of Sierra Nevada Swimming’s best swimmers, including multiple Olympic Trials qualifiers, Senior and Junior National qualifiers, Pro Swim Series qualifiers, and Sectional qualifiers. He was honored as ASCA's Age Group Coach of the Year for Sierra Nevada in 2012, and was selected to the USA Swimming National Select Camp staff in 2019.

Brad's coaching career began in 1994, when he started working with summer rec league swimmers for multiple teams in the Sacramento area. He earned a BA with honors in psychology from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 2003. From there, he went on to earn a Master's degree in psychology from San Diego State University, where his thesis focused on sport psychology and the motivation of athletes. Before returning to California to coach the Marlins, Brad was the graduate assistant coach for the Ohio State University's men's swim team.

As an athlete, Brad competed in one season of collegiate swimming at Occidental College before an injury forced him to turn to running. His specialty strokes were breaststroke and sprint freestyle. As a track athlete, he was a long sprinter and middle distance runner, competing as a conference finalist in the 200, 400, and 800 meter races. He was also a regional qualifier in cross country.

Away from the pool, Coach Brad loves spending time with his family (his wife Bonnie and daughter Bailey), is an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, and still enjoys running, as well as other sports, including basketball, softball, and ultimate frisbee.

Courtney Johnson Senior Assistant Coach

Coach Courtney started swimming for the Tigard Aquatic Club (TAC) back in 1995 (TAC is now TTSC) when she was 8 years old. She swam for TTSC all the way through high school and continued her swimming career at Linfield College. Her favorite stroke was butterfly and she is the current record holder in the 200 butterfly at Linfield. She has been involved with swim lessons and worked for over 11 years at the Tigard/Tualatin Pools. She recently has coached a summer league in Tacoma, Washington during Physical Therapy school. She has a special passion for swimming and enjoys coaching on the team where she swam for so many years.

Her undergraduate degree was in Exercise Science, and Courtney also has a Masters in Exercise Science, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is currently an outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapist in Oregon City.

Maddy Veith Head Age Group Coach & Pre Senior Coach

Maddy grew up in Hershey, PA, where she swam for the Hershey Aquatic Club from age six through high school. She was a Pennsylvania state champion in the 50 and 100 free, as well as several relays, and she holds the team record in the 50 free. Maddy went on to swim at Princeton University, where she was a team captain her junior and senior year and was part of several team-record-setting relays. She graduated in 2018, earning a B.A. in Psychology, as well as two minors in French and Gender & Sexuality Studies. Her senior thesis focused on hidden bias towards gender, and she is passionate about education policy and changing the way we talk about gender at schools and in sports.

Maddy is a total swim nut (in a good way), and she is excited to continue her involvement with the sport she loves as a coach for the younger age groups. In her free time, she loves reading, writing, exploring the PNW, and binge-watching crime TV shows.

Emily Stevens Junior 1 & 2 Group Coach

Emily joined club swimming at the age of 13. She swam for Sherwood High School and began swimming for TTSC her junior year. She went on to swim at the  NAC Division I University of Wyoming, where she was a backstroke specialist. Emily swam all four years and was an NCAA "B" qualifier, as well as a conference finalist. Emily continued to swim for TTSC during college off-season and enjoyed spending time with the team.

Emily graduated in 2017 with a BA in psychology and is excited to be back in Oregon and part of the TTSC team again—this time as a coach.  She hopes to spread her knowledge to other members of TTSC, in hope that one day they too will swim collegiately.
