Brad Robbins TTSC Head Coach

Coach Brad joined the TTSC family as the head coach in the fall of 2015. Brad, a Level 4 certified coach with the American Swim Coaches Association (top 8% of certified coaches in the United States), was previously the Aquatics Director and Head Coach for the HOX Swim Team at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, CA, the CEO and Head Coach of the Vacaville Swim team from 2013-2014, and coached for the Sierra Marlins Swim Team in Folsom, California, where he served as the Varsity group coach and Senior group assistant for 5 years from 2008-2013. While coaching with the Marlins, Brad worked with some of Sierra Nevada Swimming’s best swimmers, including multiple Olympic Trials qualifiers, Senior and Junior National qualifiers, Pro Swim Series qualifiers, and Sectional qualifiers. He was honored as ASCA's Age Group Coach of the Year for Sierra Nevada in 2012, and was selected to the USA Swimming National Select Camp staff in 2019.

Brad's coaching career began in 1994, when he started working with summer rec league swimmers for multiple teams in the Sacramento area. He earned a BA with honors in psychology from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 2003. From there, he went on to earn a Master's degree in psychology from San Diego State University, where his thesis focused on sport psychology and the motivation of athletes. Before returning to California to coach the Marlins, Brad was the graduate assistant coach for the Ohio State University's men's swim team.

As an athlete, Brad competed in one season of collegiate swimming at Occidental College before an injury forced him to turn to running. His specialty strokes were breaststroke and sprint freestyle. As a track athlete, he was a long sprinter and middle distance runner, competing as a conference finalist in the 200, 400, and 800 meter races. He was also a regional qualifier in cross country.

Away from the pool, Coach Brad loves spending time with his family (his wife Bonnie and daughter Bailey), is an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, and still enjoys running, as well as other sports, including basketball, softball, and ultimate frisbee.
