Frequently Asked Questions:

Q:        Do all USA Swimming Members over the age of 17 need to complete the APT Athletic Protections Training every year? What happens if I don't?

A:         Yes, WSC has implemented the age of 17 to ensure that when the swimmer turns 18 there is no question if it has been completed and there is no interuption in practice or competition. If you are not able to show proof of completition of the APT training via your DeckPass you will be removed from any USA sactioned events including team practices, functions & competitions.

Q:        What happens if I already have an active USA Swimming ID number for my swimmer and we are wanting to transfer our membership to Willamalane Swim Club?

A:         You will need to give notice to your previous club as would be respectful and then you would be able to register with our club after speaking directly with our Head Coach Dan Cole. After approval of the Head Coach, you would then need to register your swimmer on our Team Website and pay the all the necessary fees. If you have a current year USA swimming ID number, that fee will be refunded back to you. You would then need to fill out and email in a OSI (Oregon Swimming) transfer form to [email protected] & cc [email protected]

Q:        We used to be able to put my payment in a black box.  Where is the black box?

A:         WSC no longer accepts Checks or Cash for any club related payments. Please see your TeamUnify Handbook or online account for making payments.

Q:          If we sign up later in the season, do we still have to fulfill 30 hours of volunteer hours and $200 fundraising?

A:             No.  Volunteer hours and fundraising commitments are prorated if you start later in the season.

Q:        What is the team suit requirement?

A:        WSC is an Arena Contracted Club, that means that all of our swimmers must wear an Navy Blue Arena swim suit. Also all gear purchased moving foward should be Arena gear such as; goggles, backpacks, parkas and warm ups. If you have further questions please review the Arena Sponorship & Willamalane Swim Club tab.

Q:        What’s the difference between nylon & polyester suits? Which one should I order?

A:        Nylon will hold it’s shape longer than polyester but the color fades faster.  Most people recommend a nylon/poly blend for fit and longevity.

Q:        How do I care for the suit?

A:         Chlorine fades the color of your suit so have your swimmer rinse their suit after practice in cold water to remove chlorine.  Avoid washing swimsuits in the washing machine.  Wash suit by hand in cold water using a detergent intended for delicate fabrics. Hang dry – never put in the clothes dryer.

Q:        How do I try and size for a tech or "racing suit"?

A:         There is a handy YouTube video that Arena has put together to help answer this question.
