Practice and Meet Expectations

Practice expectations: Swimming is an individual sport and success depends to a large degree on the amount of work each individual swimmer is willing to do. There are no strict expectations regarding the number of practices a swimmer must participate in, besides the Senior Group.

All swim groups are strongly encouraged to come to all available practices for their group. If needed, practice requirements could be assigned at the coach’s discretion. These requirements could be decided per swim group or per individual swimmer. Swimmers who take practice seriously and work hard are more likely to receive the full benefits of the workouts and coaching.

  • Senior Group swimmers are expected to attend 7 practices a week.
  • Competitive Swim groups: Age Group, Pre-Senior & Senior Group swimmers are expected to have with them for each practice:
    • Fins
    • Finger Paddles
  • All Groups are required to have:
    • Mesh bag
    • Snorkel
    • Pull Buoy
    • Kick Board
    • Extra Goggles and caps
    • Must always have Dryland clothing and running shoes
    • Water bottle
    • Must have Navy Blue Arena Suit

Swim meet expectations: Because swimming is a competitive sport, and because WSC trains for competition, swimmers are required to participate in swim meets for which they qualify and are eligible for and at the minimum all club swimmers must swim at home meets.

Please make sure to declare your intention for swimming at a scheduled meet and what events your swimmer would like to swim as soon as possible.

If you require the coaching staff to choose the events, please make the notations in the declaration note box in the Team Unify Event. Any questions regarding meets should be directed to the swimmers designated coach.

All swimmers are REQUIRED wear a solid Navy Blue Arena Suit for swim meets excluding tech-suits.

Please refer to the Swim Meet 101 tab on our Team Unify Website for tips and do’s and don’t’s for a swim meet. If you have further questions, please reach out to your swimmers Coach or the New Swimmer Rep for further questions.
