Each year, FAST holds a fundraising event in conjunction with USA Swimming called the Swim-a-thon.  Last year was the first year we ran an all team relay event and it was so much fun, we are doing it again this year!

FAST's 2019 Swim-a-thon is scheduled for Saturday, March 30 from 10-noon at Lindbergh High School.  We are hoping to have all swimmers pre-registered for the event by Wednesday, March 27.   There is a $50 per swimmer minimum fundraising requirement to participate in the event.   Swimmers must have raised at least $50 and committed to the event by March 27 to be considered pre-registered.  The minimum amount to participate goes to $75 after March 27.  Please register and donate early to help us make it an even better event!

Our goal for 2019 is to raise $35,000.  The monies raised by the Swim-a-Thon will help purchase the following:

  • New lane lines for Kennedy
  • New lane line reel at Sperreng
  • New stretch cordz for Lindbergh
  • Mirrors for the Pattonville pool

This year, we are also hoping that the Swim-a-thon proceeds will help recoup some of the money we anticipated making at the Too FAST to Freeze meet that was canceled.  The swimmers have been doing a great job of making up for the races that we missed, but the profit from FAST-hosted meets is a large part of our budget.  Not only do we want the swimmers to head into long course with the same momentum they would have if the meet had taken place, but we would also like to be able to stay on target with the funding to maintain all of our organizational goals in and out of the water.

There will be weekly incentive prizes, both group and individual, beginning the week of February 17.  Look for weekly emails with reminders and winners.  During the event, we will run a raffle (prize to be determined) along with a concession stand for the spectators.  We fill finish the event with social time in the gym.

Currently, FAST has approximately 375 members.  If each swimmer can raise $100, we will easily meet our goal.  As a reminder, FAST is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization which makes corporate matching programs an easy way to double your donation!  Please review the section regarding Corporate Matching programs found on the FAST Swim-a-thon webpage.  Investigate your place of employment as many employers will match donations made by their employees.

The FAST Swim-a-thon donation page will go live on Tuesday, February 12.
