The Ozark Division 1 Championship meet took place at the St. Peters Rec-Plex on the weekend of February 28-March 1, 2020. RCA took a roster of 53 swimmers to the meet with 36 individual event qualifiers included in that number. The additional relay-only swimmers allowed the team to enter the maximum of 44 possible scoring relays in the meet for the first time in team history. RCA took 28 senior swimmers to compete in the Auburn Classic on February 28-March 1 on the campus of Auburn University. RCA senior Daniel Seabaugh will join the collegiate swimming ranks in August 2020 as a freshman member of the University of Missouri swim team. Seabaugh battled current Auburn Tiger freshman Davis Edwards in two tight IM races over the weekend and came out with personal bests, team records, and event wins at both the 200 (1:48.38) and 400 (3:52.01) distances. RCA swimmers represented all four of the local schools at the recent MSHSAA Girls State Swimming and Diving Championships (February 20-22). Ava Duncan, a Cape Central Junior, led her team in scoring and posted lifetime bests in the 100 Back (59.49) and 100 Free (55.17) on her way to making finals in both events. RCA took to home waters on the weekend of January 31- February 2. This meet served several purposes. It was the last major meet to qualify for Division I Championships at the end of February. With championship meets coming up that usually have swimmers in their prime events, it was a chance for RCA athletes to swim in off-events. River City Aquatics journeyed to the renowned IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, IN on the weekend of January 17-19, 2020 to compete in the CSC Winter Invitational. The team scored well all weekend and finished 8th in the combined team standings with 803 points! The weekend of January 4-5, 2020, was a great start to the new year for RCA. Coach Joe Graves had wonderful things to report about so many swimmers. Leading the way was Swimmer of the Meet Bella Pattengill, who had 100% best times and dropped over 20 seconds total from her events. RCA had a big roster and big performances at the Merry Swim Invitational the weekend of December 7th and 8th. The mixed relays that finished each session were fun to watch, especially as RCA seemed to win heat after heat! RCA swimmers made the short trip over to Carbondale for the Ozark A Champs on the weekend of November 22-24. Thirty-two RCA swimmers attended the third long course meet of the season at the RecPlex in St. Peters, MO, this past weekend.  Swimmers looked very sharp and RCA had great mid-season swims across several groups. Senior Swimmer of the Meet is Bella Dennis. She was 5 of 8 on best times including strong improvements in backstroke, which has been her weaker stroke recently.
