RCA Scores More Points Per Swimmer Than Any Other Team at OZARK LC Champs

Cape Girardeau, MO July 27, 2021- River City Aquatics scored more points per swimmer than any other team at the 2021 Summer Long Course Championships held in Edwardsville, IL this past weekend July 23-24. RCA were led by 10 & Under Girls High Point Winner and Winner of the Penny Taylor Award (Meet MVP), Karsynne McAlister. Karsynne scored a total of 137 points for RCA.

But the overall key lies in the quality of racing across the board with all of the RCA swimmers. Ty Thomas finished as the runner up high point winner in the 11-12 boys division. Brother, Nate Thomas broke an Ozark record in the 200 IM.

RCA qualified five individual swimmers for this year's Zone Championships including Sydney Ringwald, Hudson Dennis, Ava Walters, Ty Thomas, and Nate Thomas. In addition, we had several new sectional cuts for the older swimmers and Andrew Greene secured his first sectional cut in the 100 fly. From there we had too many A, AA, and AAA times to list and over 90% of our swims were best times.

RCA has a long history of succeeding at this level with quality over quantity. We aren't the biggest team in the area but the swimmers we do have fight for every point and every hundreth of a second they can get; a tradition to be proud of.

Lastly, and perhaps the most exciting part of the weekend is that RCA was award the 2021 Long Course Championships Spirit Award. Our swimmers made it known that they care about their fellow swimmers and that they are going to have fun racing no matter what!

Cheers to another great championship meet and a great season.
