Ariana Deterding Head Coach

Hello! My name is Ariana Deterding (known as Coach Ari). My father taught me all the basics and necessities of swimming. I joined a summer swim team at age 12 and proceeded to swim on their fall team. I then moved to KS where I joined one of the top teams, the SAC Stingrays. It was with this team where I developed and learned so much about the sport of swimming, thanks to the best coach I could have ever asked for! I then proceeded to become a lifeguard, a WSI, and an LGI. In the summer of 2018, I came to St. Charles, and got the assistant coaching position at SCCY. I am now so excited to be head coach, and to play an even bigger role in the lives of the swimmers! If there is one goal I have in being a coach, it’s this; that in everything I say and do the swimmers might come to love, grow, be honest, be helpful, be respectful, be kind, and have fun, not only within swimming, but with life as well!

Will Hyten Coach

Hey everybody! My name is Will Hyten (also known as Coach Will). I am originally from the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, IL area, and am currently attending Lindenwood University. I started swimming competitively when I joined the Edwardsville YMCA Breakers at age 7, and was coached by Bob Rettle. I swam for the Breakers from 2009 until 2012, and then from 2017 to 2019. I also swam for the Collinsville-Maryville-Troy (CMT) YMCA Riptides swim team from 2016 to 2017. Over the summer, I swam for the Sunset Hills Country Club Stingrays swim team from 2010 to 2019. I also swam as an individual at the IHSA Sectionals as an individual for my high school, Father McGivney Catholic High School, from which I graduated this past summer.

Outside of coaching, I also work as a lifeguard and am a member of the Catholic Student Union, Criminal Justice Student Association, and Turning Point USA at Lindenwood.
