Congratulations to Henry Cannon, Hazel Derr, and Andrew Lee for being PAC's 2021-2022 Athlete Representatives! These three swimmers were elected by their teammates over the past week, both through in person and online voting. We are sure they will do a phenomenal job guiding and representing our swimmers over the next year.

After over a year of waiting, PAC finally got to swim in a short course yards meet! Our swimmers had an amazing meet with over 70% of the swims being best times. The meet was run with a rolling warmup that was foreign at first but really was excellent for our swimmers' performances. The meet was calm and the racing was fast! Outside of the facility, swimmers enjoyed some rays of sunshine and hanging out in the park as they awaited their events. The coaches were extremely happy PAC's performance...

On April 29th, PAC’s very own Hazel Derr and Adrian Clement traveled to Des Moines, Iowa for the 2021 TYR 18&U Spring Cup. The Spring Cup is one of the fastest meets in the nation and many swimmers were at the meet for a last chance to qualify for the Olympic Trials. At the end of the 4 day meet, our two swimmers had competed in 5 individual events, 2 time trials, 2 finals and broken 2 PAC records. PAC is so excited to have Hazel and Adrian competing at...

57 PAC swimmers took to the Lacamas lanes, April 23rd-35th, at the 2021 OR Tribal Vibe Meet. The meet kicked off with relays and long distance on Friday night. PAC's 24 relay teams were a force to be reckoned with! Saturday and Sunday brought some cloudy skies and colder weather, but this didn't stop the PAC swimmers. PAC athletes swam 262 individual swims, 83 of which were first-time swims and 106 personal bests! The meet was not scored, but the PAC coaches and swimmers finished the weekend feeling like winners....

We are excited to announce that after a nearly three-month process, we have chosen Westley Mejias to be the next Head Coach for Portland Aquatic Club! Many of you already know Westley as he has been working with our swimmers for much of this year. He has over 18 years of coaching experience, including starting both a club and university team. He is a two-time University Coach of the Year in Puerto Rico, winning a Puerto Rican collegiate championship five years after starting the program. He built a club team...

On March 19th-28th, PAC had the great honor of sending 4 swimmers to the 2021 Four Corners Speedo Sectionals and 6 swimmers to the 2021 Speedo Swimvitational of the Universe! For all of our swimmers, this was the first time in over a year that they had seen actual competition (swimmers from other teams). Heading into the meet, there was a mixture of excitement and uncertainty of the unknown. What will a COVID meet look like? Will I remember how to race? Am I ready? All questions that our swimmers...

On March 13th PAC swam in the last meet of their Short Course Yards season. PAC swimmers competed in the Lacamas Short Course Meters pool, which was a fitting end to this unconventional SCY season. Nonetheless, PAC athletes came to the pool to swim fast, and swim fast they did! PAC athletes swam to 50 best times and 51 first-time event swims! The PAC coaches were so proud of the athletes' performances and of all of their hard work this season! As always, we had an amazing amount of support...

Congratulations to Fallon on signing her National Letter of Intent! On Nov 11th, Fallon signed her NLI to swim for the Iowa State Cyclones in 2021-22. Iowa State Swimming competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I athletics. We could not be prouder of Fallon and her amazing accomplishment. PAC wishes Fallon the best of luck next year, and can't wait to see her take the next step in her swimming career! Go PAC and Go Cyclones!

PAC is so proud of Hazel Derr for earning her second Scholastic All American title. This honor is given to 9-12th grade students who maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average and have swum an individual pool time equal to or faster than the 2019 Winter Junior qualifying time in any individual event from August 16, 2019-August 31, 2020. Hazel was one of only nineteen swimmers who were recognized this year in Oregon. Keep up the great work in the water and at school, Hazel!
