***Breaking News: Commissioner Hardesty to Bring Forward Amendment to Stop Layoffs and Community Center Closures!***

Laborers' Local 483 Members and Community Groups,

On Thursday, Commissioner Hardesty sent out a press release in which she calls on the City to "stretch the police vacancy savings a little further and provide increased bridge funding to address the structural deficit Parks is facing," in order to halt layoffs and community center closures.

"We have the resources to do what we need to do to support all Portlanders" the Commissioner said, and we couldn't agree more! We know that the City has the resources to fully fund the Parks bureau without closing a single center or laying off any employees, and now Commissioner Hardesty will be putting forward an amendment to prevent these cuts.

Now is the time to take action! We must activate as a community around Commissioner Hardesty's plan and tell the other Commissioners to support fully funding Parks and Recreation.
