Team jobs (mostly timing) are assigned to Sharks based on the number of swimmers entered in a meet, NOT the number that actually swim. If you sign up for a meet, you are expected to sign up for and fulfill the job even if your swimmer decides not to attend that meet. The number of jobs and length of shifts varies for each meet based on the length of the meet and the number of swimmers entered.

If you are unable to fulfill your job, it is your responsibility to find a replacement and provide the name of your replacement to the volunteer coordinator for the meet. The volunteer coordinator may have a “For Hire” list of people willing to work in your place. If you fail to fulfill your obligation, the penalties are:

  • 1st Violation: $50 fine must be paid before your swimmer may return to practice and/or meets
  • 2nd Violation: $80 fine must be paid before your swimmer may return to practice and/or meets
  • 3rd Violation: $100 fine must be paid and a meeting with the Sharks Board President and head coach must be completed before the swimmer is allowed to return to any team activities.

All Sharks families will be required to fulfill a certain number of volunteer hours for Sharks hosted (sanctioned) meets. Hours are based on the number of swimmers in each family.  You are required to fulfill these hours even if you do not have swimmers entered into a Sharks hosted meet. Intrasquad or other non-sanctioned meets that Sharks may host do not count towards these volunteer hours.

These meets are critical fundraisers for the team, and we rely on the help of all our families to ensure their success. If you are unable to fulfill your required hours, it is your responsibility to find a replacement and notify the volunteer coordinator of who the replacement will be. The volunteer coordinator may have a “For Hire” list of people willing to work in your place.

Please reach out to our Lead Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]

Officiating at one Sharks Hosted Swim Meet could fulfill your family’s hosted meet volunteer hours for the entire swim year!  If you are interested in becoming a USA Swimming Official, please contact [email protected]

For Away Meets, swim teams may be required to provide a certain number of officials based on the number of swimmers they have entered in the meet. Sharks is fined if we are unable to satisfy this very important job requirement.
