Team Structure

2021 Group Practice Structure

Competitive Structure

QuickSilver is shifting the group structure for 2021 to better accommodate team growth in the past 5 years.  The competitive structure allows for more comprehensive flow for the swimmers and expands the options for level up opportunities compared to the former system.

Pre-Comp Program

In addition, QuickSilver also created a Pre-Comp program to allow a better intro group for new and developmental swimmers. This structure allows for a smaller swimmer-to-coach ratio for these groups as they are at an integral learning phase.

How are groups determined?

As we're sure you noticed, we are in the middle of the largest pandemic in 100 years.  Normally coaches would consider race times and training sets, but at this point in time, it is training level and matching swimmers into the best possible cohort (max 14 kids) group as possible.  2021 is like having a super-match for training levels.

For future group determination, please utilize the training level for entering each group. These are not test sets, but rather, regular training sets the group would need to complete with ease.

  • RP = "Ready Position" - swimmers need to be able to leave from a proper ready position every time they leave the wall
  • G# = "Glide 1 black line" or 2+ - this means that swimmers need to push off from a ready position and glide a minium number of black lines before they initiate their kicks or pull down.
  • #D = "3 Dolphin Kicks" or 3+, which is the minium number of dolphin kicks the swimmer at that level is expected to do off every wall
