Dear SCSC Families,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, coaches, and staff we are excited to announce our “SCSC Swim-A-Thon 2021 – Timing into the Future” on November 13, 2021. Despite the unprecedented times we all experienced due to Covid-19, we are now back, ready to celebrate SCSC’s 70th anniversary and start working towards a very bright future. It goes without saying, we are pleased to be back in our home pool and can’t be happier to see all our athletes back in the pool.

It’s time we transform our SCSC into a positive, high performing and progressive swim club. Let’s start with Timing, Let’s help raise funds to buy our own timing equipment and a state-of-the-art video scoreboard. Who doesn’t like home meets? Our own timing infrastructure will result in additional home meets - convenient for all swimmers and families. We need to build this dream together. Let’s keep swimming and take pride in contributing to mutual benefits.

Running a swim team as large as SCSC has many expenses, so we need the support of our members to be able to run the day-to-day activities, cover the many expenses that come with those, and get funding for additional swimming equipment that can help us build a stronger team.

As some of you may know, Swim-A-Thon is a USA Swimming sponsored fundraiser in which swimmers earn money for their team by swimming a two-hour period or 200 laps. We would like for all our swimmers to participate in this event and will make sure to keep the younger swimmers motivated so they give their best.

Currently, SCSC does not own a timing system. One of our goals is to have the ability to run our own swim meets and make sure all our athletes can have the opportunity to compete regularly. Running a successful Swim-A-Thon would help us get on the way to acquiring a team-owned timings system and scoreboard, giving us the opportunity to host more meets/events. In doing so, we will provide SCSC swimmers top priority in entering our meets and our families the advantage of having meets in their home pool.

An email with more information will be sent the week of October 11. Our team goal for the Swim-A-Thon is to raise $50,000, which will allow us to acquire the timing system by April of 2022. Our ultimate goal with this event, along with future fundraising events, is to raise a total of $160,000 to completely fund the timing system and scoreboard.

We are confident that with the help and support of all our members we will reach our goal and will be able to install our own new timing system by April 2022.Your participation is crucial in helping us reach this goal. Please show your support, help us provide the resources, coaching and programs by raising these valuable dollars that will make a huge difference and will support our prestigious swim team.

We look forward to seeing all of you joining us in this fun event and we thank you for your support.
