Chinook COVID-19 Practice Guidelines
Commitment to Return in Compliance with the State's COVID Guidelines

Objective: Swimming Safely

  • Swimmers who travel out of state will be required to quarantine for either 14 days after returning to Washington or 7 days with a negative COVID-19 test after day 5. Swimmers MUST NOT attend practice if they have not satisfied either of those two requirements.
  • Those same rules apply for swimmers who have been exposed to an individual who has tested positive for Covid-19.

  • Swimmers will arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the scheduled start of practice.
  • Swimmers must remain 6 feet social distancing as they wait for practice to begin.
  • Swimmers will arrange drop off and pick up outside the facility. Swimmers cannot congregate in the swim facility or on the deck.
  • Use of locker rooms are prohibited except in emergencies. No changing or showering in the locker rooms.
  • All swimmers must arrive at the pool in their swimsuit.
  • Upon entering the facility, all participants must disinfect their hands with sanitizer.
  • Bring a water bottle. Water fountains are off limits.
  • Do not attend practice if you or a member of your household are not feeling well.
  • It is required that all swimmers wear a mask when not in the swimming pool.
  • A brief safety meeting will be conducted at the start of practice by one of the coaches or adults, reminding swimmers of the safety protocols.
  • No observers are allowed on the deck or in the facilities.

  • In Phase 1.5 and Phase 2 (unless otherwise notified), capacity will be limited to 2 swimmers per lane, starting at opposite ends of the pool.
  • Coaches will wear masks at all times.
  • The use of community equipment or sharing equipment is not allowed. No gear is available. All swimmers must bring their own gear.
  • No observers are allowed on the deck or in the facilities.
  • There is zero tolerance for all members attending practices when it comes to violating set policies.

  • All swimmers will be asked to leave the facility as soon as possible.
  • No congregating or social activity will be allowed before, during or after practice.
  • All swimmers must maintain 6 feet social distancing outside the facility while waiting for pick up.

All swimmers must answer the following before considering coming to practice. Please ask yourself the following questions every day:

  • Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID‐19?
  • Are you experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
  • Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?
  • Have you had a loss of taste or smell?
  • Have you had vomiting or diarrhea in the last 48 hours?

If any swimmers answer "yes" to any of these questions, they must notify their coach and will not be allowed to enter the facility.

If there is a confirmed COVID Case by a Team Member:

If a Chinook member who has attended a Chinook practice within 14 days tests positive for COVID‐19, Chinook will follow the current state and local Department of Health guidelines.

If a swimmer complains of COVID‐like symptoms during practice:

  • The swimmer will immediately be separated from the other swimmers and will put on a facial covering.
  • The swimmer, in the care of a team representative, will immediately exit the facility and the swimmer's parents will be notified.
  • Aquatic Center staff must immediately be notified, and will disinfect all "high touch" surfaces.
