The Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic is pleased to announce our evaluation dates for families who are interested in joining our team for the upcoming 2022 – 2023 season!

Athletes who are new to competitive, year-round swimming seeking placement on the team must be able to complete a continuous 25 yards of freestyle (or crawl stroke) with side breathing and a continuous 25 yards of backstroke.  Please view the video linked here as a reference for these skills.

More experienced athletes will be required to meet additional criteria. Brief descriptions and expectations for membership in our competitive training groups can be found below.

Catfish. Our introductory group. The fundamentals of all four strokes are taught as well as skills that will allow them to function as part of a swim team. Skills and fun are emphasized.

Stroke Development. This group prepares participants for competitive swimming. Swimmers will learn the structure of a swim practice and acquire additional competitive swimming skills including starts and turns.  Swimmers can complete 25 yards of each stroke.  Athletes enter and exit the water without assistance.

Age Group. Swimmers entering Age Group have met the performance goals in stroke development and will continue to develop as athletes. Athletes are encouraged to attend as many workouts as possible and attend meets as prescribed by the coaching staff.

Age Group Performance. Swimmers in this group are focused on high performance at championship meets. Athletes have high goals and are willing to make technical changes, learn race strategies, and understand that they ultimately have control over their success both in and out of the water.

Athletes seeking placement in the Senior, Senior Performance, and National groups should communicate directly with the lead coach at their preferred location. The coach’s contact email will be found on the bottom of the group’s informational page.

In addition, you can familiarize yourself with the costs, fundraising, and work share requirements by reviewing our Fees & Commitments page.
