2022 Sockeye Springtime Madness Meet Recap

IST Communications

On the weekend of June 20th-22nd, IST athletes and coaches traveled to King County Aquatic Center for the 2022 Sockeye Springtime Madness meet. This meet was both ISTs first Long Course meet of the 2022 LC season, and the first that we have hosted this season. IST would like to extend a huge thank you to our volunteers and meet coordinators that allowed this event to run smoothly!

This competition represented either the first experience many of our athletes had with a long course meet, or their first in over a year. Competing in a LC pool presents several challenges and opportunities to exercise different skills. IST athletes had the opportunity to exercise their distance-per-stroke abilities, excellent turns/underwaters, and adapt their race strategies to the longer pool. Additionally, athletes utilized tools specific to this meet format such as: positive check-in and “chase” starts on different sides of the pool.

IST athletes achieved 608 best times, swam 228 first time events, and dropped a total of 2,543 seconds!

Coach Amanda was on deck during this meet and took some fantastic pictures throughout the competition. Thank you Coach Amanda!
