2022 October 14&U Challenge Meet Recap

IST Communications

On October 1st and 2nd, IST athletes and coaches traveled to the Kamiak High School pool for our second meet of the season, 14&U October Challenge!

148 athletes attended this meet. Swimmers arrived with an excited and positive mental attitude. This meet represented the second competition opportunity of the season and provided longer races such as 100s, 200s, and the 500FR. Athletes learned and improved race strategies for these events while demonstrating excellent meet habits. Swimmers were on time to their events, communicated with their coaches before and after races, all while exercising good sportsmanship and staying fueled for their races.

With a wider variety of events to race came more chances to use skills from our first month of training. All training groups have worked on their conditioning, kicking, sculling, body awareness, and early season skill work. These skills were on display as athletes swam short course races of 100 yards or greater for the first time since June!

Thank you to Coach Amanda for taking some fantastic pictures during the event! More photos can be found in the TeamUnify team feed and on the IST Instagram page.
