VAST Mid-Week Update

Hi Families,

An important mid-week update.

Sumner Practice Schedule:  The Sumner practice schedule will stay the same as it is this week through mid-November.  I apologize for the confusion.  It just makes more sense for the high school programs.

Vaccination/Negative Test Requirement for all pools in King County:  King County recently revised their order for vaccination verification to include indoor public pools and to include athletes/spectators involved in club sports (school sports are still exempt).  You can see the order here:   https://kingcounty.gov/depts/health/covid-19/current-guidance/~/media/depts/health/communicable-diseases/documents/C19/LHO-proof-of-vaccination.ashx

What this means:

  • Athletes/volunteers/spectators 12 and older will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test within 72 hours
  • This is for practice AND meets at ANY indoor pool in King County (FWCC, KCAC, etc) So for example, a non-vaccinated swimmer will need to present new negative test results every three days.
  • This goes into effect beginning October 25th
  • At this time, we are not exactly sure how this will be enforced-whether it will be the job of the facility or the job of our team.

I will share more information as we receive it but wanted to share where things stand as of now.   Once we have clarity on the process and who is responsible for the enforcement, we will let you know.

Thank you for understanding and please reach out with QUESTIONS! As things evolve, I will be sure to communicate.
