Adult Clinics Start THIS WEEKEND!

WEST is hosting a series of adult swim clinics to help gear up for the summer and triathlon / open water season. The clinics will focus on reinforcing fundamentals, stroke technique and preparing swimmers to compete or simply continue training on their own. We will focus on freestyle technique specifically and cover some basic Open Water skills. The clinic is best suited for Beginner to Intermediate level swimmers and we hope to connect our adult athletes and continuing to build our aquatic community.

SWIMATHON Season is in Full Swing!

April 13th is quickly approaching! Have you forgotten what Swim-A-Thon is? Here’s a refresher:

Every year, swim teams across the nation host a fundraiser,

SwimAThon, during which the kids swim 200 laps (or for 2hrs,

whichever comes first) and solicit donations from family, friends,

and local businesses for their teams.  The fundraiser is put

on in part by USA Swimming, so 95% of proceeds go directly to our

WEST team and 5% goes to USAS.

WEST’s Swimathon portal is open! Head to our website and click on the Donation Page Setup PDF and follow the instructions to create an account for your swimmer’s fundraiser. Every donation counts!

This year’s fundraiser earnings will go towards:

-a new pool pump & chlorinator

-resurfacing our pool deck

-new equipment and storage on deck

-new pace clock

-renovations to WEST’s pump room.

-Facility updates to increase energy efficiency

WEST is sending out over 900 letters that we wrote together this weekend - wow! Great job everyone and keep up the hard work!

Zone Applications are posted!

Cactus Classic in Arizona

This May we plan to head to Arizona for the Cactus Classic Swim Meet hosted by Scottsdale Aquatic Club. This will be a competitive prelim & final meet for swimmers 11 & Over, however all swimmers must make the “Senior Time Standards” listed in the meet information on pages 4-5. There is a separate Age Group Session, but WEST will only be bringing swimmers that can attend the Senior Prelim & Final Sessions. Attached is the meet information where the qualifying times can be found. Please disregard the “Age Group Time Standards” as that pertains to the middle session that we will not be attending.

This will be a team travel meet where swimmers 13 and over are expected to room together. 12 and under swimmers that choose to attend will need to travel with a parent or previously designated chaperone.

If parents plan to travel to the meet with their swimmer, you are welcome to arrange your own travel at any time. If you plan to have your swimmer travel with the team, please RSVP by April 1 to attend so we can finalize travel arrangements.

Note: many kids have finals around this time. We will allow swimmers to travel on Friday night after school and swim Saturday & Sunday only. Obviously we would prefer them to be there for the entire meet. No WEST swimmers will compete Monday for the 800 free events.
