Hello WEST Families,

Spring is the busiest time of the year at WEST and we are hard at work prepping for summer! Read on for this week's news:

Coach Ed Spencer Visit:

As one of 60 teams in the country being selected for USA Swimming’s Coach Mentorship Program, we are honored to have Ed Spencer visit our team this week. Ed has met with our swimmers and shared his 3 main secrets to success: 1. Perfect attendance 2. Listen to your coach 3. Foster your relationships with teammates. These three items are the most reoccurring factors that all great swimmers have in common when asked “what most contributed to their success?”.

Schedule Corrections - PLEASE READ:

Saturday: Accelerate will be making the change to summer schedule for Saturdays ONLY. Practice from here through summer will be 7:00 – 9:30am.

**All other groups will continue to operate under our school year practice schedule.**

This is the first week of Colman Pre-Season Practices. Please note we previously incorrectly listed the times, everything had gotten pushed back 30min and we were going off an old schedule. The correct times are listed below:

Senior Elite: Tuesday 4:30-8:30pm / Saturday 8-10am

Senior, Accelerate, Challenge: Friday 6:30-8:30pm

Clean Up Day – THIS Saturday!

We will be doing our annual Spring Clean Up Day this Saturday from 9am-3pm. Job Sign-Up is posted, please visit the Team Events page.

Team Awards Banquet – Fri 6/7

We will hold our annual banquet to recognize our Seniors and Standout Athletes. The pool will be open for kids to play and we will ask each family bring a food / drink item to share. More specifics have been emailed out in previous WEST Weekly’s.

Arizona Trip – Next Week

The team will be traveling next Thursday to Scottsdale for the Cactus Classic Swim Meet. We are looking forward to some heat, and fast swimming. More details will be sent out to those attending shortly.

Pasco – 2 Weeks Away!

Those not attending Arizona will be traveling with the rest of the team on our annual meet in Tri-Cities. This is going to be a lot of fun and we will be doing a team dinner on Saturday night. Please visit Inland Empire Swimming for meet information.

Volunteering Opportunities

In addition to the Clean Up Day this weekend, WEST is hosting a major meet at KCAC on June 29-30. We will need ALL HANDS ON DECK to make this meet a success. Next year we are hosting Age Group Regionals at KCAC, so it is important that everyone gets comfortable with running bigger meets at the Aquatics Center. We will also plan to host two Summer Team meets at WEST, however those will only be open to Explore and Discover parents (whose swimmers are swimming in the meet). These will be the last opportunities for Parents to fulfill their hour requirements, so mark your calendars when those meets are updated to our Team Event’s page.

Goodbye to Kyle

Our Facility & Lifeguard Manager Kyle, will be leaving us after this week to go back Salmon fishing. Kyle has made a huge impact on our facility by helping repair and maintain our aging building and equipment. We wish him the best moving forward and will certainly miss him around the pool. We are currently sorting through candidates for a replacement and setting up interviews soon.

Stay connected, stay healthy and stay positive. This is an incredibly busy time of year as school wraps up, our training continues to increase and the pressure undoubtably builds.
