Last Chance to Register for the Sept. 25 USAS Annual Business Meeting

Registration for the USA Swimming Annual Business Meeting (formerly the USA Aquatic Sports Convention) closes on Monday, September 20, midnight.  The meeting is open to all members and other interested parties, but registration is required.  The registration link is posted if anyone is interested joining the PNS voting delegates:

The agenda for Sept. 25 will consist of two meetings.  The first will be the continuation of the June 30 Special Meeting on Governance changes.  The objective is to approve a new proposal to structure the USAS HOD to comply with the new federal and US OPC requirements.  This is the so-called replacement of R-9 which was the one measure not approved on June 30.

Western Zone Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator Vacancy

In addition to the directors of each Zone, there are Zone coordinators for various functions such as Officials, DEI and Safe Sport.  Western Zone now has a vacancy for the position of Western Zone DEI Coordinator.  USA Swimming’s goal is to recruit and retain a champion of change that has a passion for the work that they do and a love for the sport of swimming.

Anyone interested in applying for the position can submit a request for consideration to USAS DEI Program Director Leland Brown III at: [email protected]

APT Certifications Extended Due to System Issues

USA Swimming has informed all LSC’s that the LEARN System is currently experiencing technical difficulties.  The LEARN system hosts the Athlete Protection Training (APT) Webinars so these difficulties prevent USAS members from renewing their APT certification prior to their expiration dates.  This issue impacts all members whose APT certification expires in August or September 2021.  Given the current issues and with the new membership year commencing on September 1, USA Swimming will be providing an extension of this certification until September 30, 2021, for the approximately 3000 impacted members. USA Swimming expects the system to be operational by that time and will send all impacted members a follow-up communication when they are again able to renew their APT. Your membership with USA Swimming will not be affected during this interim period.
