PNS March Meets Planning

PNS continues to develop plans to provide the opportunity for as many swimmers as possible to compete at a March meet to conclude the short course season.   As announced, the Western Zone and PNS agreed that the Senior Sectional meet had to move from WKCAC to Phoenix due to facility limitations.  That decision precipitated discussions regarding Age Group Regionals and the PNS Spring Showdown meets.  Earlier this week, the coaches brainstormed a number of alternative meet structures, and that conversation is continuing via various email threads.  Program Operations and the Technical Planning Committee will meet next week to finalize plans and schedules for the meets in the March timeframe.  Following the Technical Planning Committee meeting, status and schedules should be available in next week’s edition of What’s PNeu and the process to identify host clubs will begin.

Updated Meet Sanction Process

The USA Swimming Board of Directors met last week and extended the COVID-19 protocol requirements through August 31, 2022.  The two key USAS documents that were updated at that time have been downloaded to the PNS web page under “Meet Ops” along with the traditional meet bid paperwork. Read them carefully during meet planning. Your meet bid must include the completed and signed “Return to Competition Sanction Requirements” checklist and the fillable “Covid-19 Supplemental Document”; the latter is necessary to meet the requirements outlined in both USA Swimming documents.

Second, please remember that, per PNS Policies and Procedures, please submit meet bids at least thirty days prior to the start of the meet.  The sanction volunteers are working hard to address the large number of requests from the clubs planning smaller meets, etc.; the volume means that more time is needed to review and approve the requests.

Meet Activities:

Congrats to the 11-12 (and 10&U) meet competitors as well as to the swimmers at the 13-14 Champs meet this past weekend.  And special recognition to the athletes who represented their PNS clubs as the Junior Nationals in Austin, Texas this past weekend.  Good luck to the swimmers competing at the 15&O Champs meet this coming weekend.
