  • Women’s Leadership Summit (Application opens February 3)
  • Coach Leadership Summit (Application opens February 10)
  • Regional Diversity Select Camp (Application opens February 21).

Registration for the 2022 USA Swimming Workshop to be held April 21-24 is already open until April 7.  The agenda for the Workshop is at:  click here . Participation can be either in-person or attendance can be remote.

Additional details on the different emphasis topics will be distributed monthly starting with Coach Certification next week, On-Line Registration as a February message and DEI details will be provided in a March message.  As a side note, the 2023 USA Swimming Workshop is currently planned for Chicago.

USA Swimming Realigns Team Services

Prior to the end of 2021, USA Swimming announced that a realignment of the Team Services (aka Field Services) organization would be announced in 2022.  This is part of Brendan Hansen’s Sport Development Staff.  The complete announcement including new personnel is scheduled for January 24.  Juan Caraveo, who has been Western Zone Team Services, will be leaving USA Swimming for a new position with USADA.  The realignment will include 2 representatives to each zone and the representatives will each focus on approximately 8 LSC’s and all the member clubs in those LSC’s.  Jane Grosser will be one of the Western Zone Team Services Representatives and will also continue to focus on LSC Development.  The new structure apparently will share individual expertise across all zones.

Meet Marshal Training Planned

As USA Swimming worked with the Center for SafeSport on the question of membership for meet marshals, the Risk Management Committee determined that improved and consistent training for meet marshals is needed.  Creation of that training module is underway and release is anticipated for Second Quarter, 2022

Non-Athlete Memberships Still Required

Several USA Swimming messages have communicated that the requirement for meet marshals to be non-athlete members has been dropped.  However, as of Jan. 1, 2022, the other individuals included in those announcements are still required to become non-athlete members of USA Swimming.  These include:  adult employees of Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) and member clubs; adults serving on the board of directors of LSCs and member clubs; individuals in a position of oversight over the operations of a member club; and adults with an ownership interest in a member club.

Implementation of the new $30 membership category to support this extension is still planned for the 2022-23 year.

Insurance Certificates

As originally announced in October, USA Swimming has now contracted with IOA (Insurance Office of America) for general liability insurance at all levels including club liability insurance.  Requests for Certificates of Insurance are still available at:

Availability of Enterprise Zoom Licenses Extended

USA Swimming has extended the offer of enterprise Zoom licenses through the end of January since a number of clubs did not respond prior to the previous deadline.  Any club interested in obtaining a license (or renewing a 2021 license) should contact the PNS Office to order the license.
