Jacob Matthew Lumbang Head Coach

Jacob Lumbang began coaching for DCD in 2019 as an Age Group Coach and an Assistant Senior Coach from Summer of 2019 - 2021. He is currently in his 3rd year in DCD as our Head Coach (2022 - Present). In the past, he was a swim instructor for Saint Ignatius Aquatics from 2016 - 2019 and competitively swam from 2012 - 2019 with multiple teams such as DCD, FOG, and BAC. During his time in DCD, Coach Jacob has coached swimmers who have gone to compete at Junior Olympics, Far Westerns, Zone All Stars, Western Zones, and Sectionals. Some athlete that have been coached under Jacob became Junior Olympic and Far Western finalist and medalist, ranked top 10 in Zone 1 North, and top 30 in Pacific Swimming in their respective age group. Most recently, Coach Jacob was apart of the Zone All Star Coaching staff in 2023 where they would lead Zone 1 to a 2nd Place finish at Zone All Star Championships.

His swimming career began in his early years at the age of 2 - 6 after joining his first ever local swim team in Manila, Philippines. Coming over to the states, it wasn't until after a 6 year hiatus where he would come back to the sport of swimming. He would go on to compete in numerous types of competitions in those 7 years such as Junior Olympics, Far Westerns, Speedo Sectionals, Speedo Futures, and Central Coast Section. He still owns 6/8 high school records for Oceana High School and owns the all-time PAL Ocean Division 100 Breast record and made finals for Central Coast Sections every year during his school years. He also achieved the 2019 Outstanding Student-Athlete award from the following: City of Pacifica, San Mateo Country, U.S. Congress, California State Assembly, and California State Senate during his senior year of high school.

Jacob's coaching philosophy focuses primarily on stroke specificity building around his following foundations: training with a purpose in different variations of intensities, developing technique from beginner to the technical level, and building a powerful foundation physically and mentally. He believes in cultivating swimmers to the best of their capabilities as athletes, students, and as people. "My goal is to provide my full support for my athletes goals whether it is to enjoy the sport of swimming in itself, to becoming a collegiate athlete, and/or any goal they desire".

Coach Jacob recently graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Kinesiology w/ an Emphasis in Exercise and Movement Science during the Fall 2022 school year.

Nathan Chen Assistant Coach

Nathan Chen joined our coaching staff as an Assistant Coach for DCD as of August 2022. Prior to becoming an Assistant Coach for DCD, Nathan's swimming roots all derived from Giammona Pool. Nathan started swim lessons at Giammona Pool at the age of 7 and swam for DCD at the age of 9. During his time a competitive swimmer for DCD from 2013 - 2022, Nathan has qualified for Zone 1 North Championships, and has placed Top 10 at PAL Championships every year representing Westmoor High School. 

Nathan has coached in numerous of meets that range from CBA Meets, Zone 1 Champs, and Junior Olympic Championships. His emphasizes his training program on technique for all of his swimmers and has a strong ideology of honing proper technique as it will improve how swimmers output their energy.

Nathan is currently in his first year in college studying Computer Science and Engineering at De Anza College.

Alyzza Pascual Assistant Coach

Alyzza Pascual became an assistant coach for DCD in 2022 and works mainly with the Gold and Silver groups. She has been a lifeguard/swim instructor for Daly City Park & Rec at Giammona Pool from 2019-present. Her swimming career lasted for six years with DCD from age 12-18. While attending Westmoor High School, she achieved top 10 in her respective events at PALs. In her senior year of high school at Westmoor, she became team captain and helped coach the Junior Varsity girls. Alyzza is currently attending San Francisco State University majoring in Business Administration: Concentration in Marketing.
