WE are currently NOT running age group swim groups. We are actively seeking a new head coach.

Mavericks offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of Mavericks to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their ability.  If you are new and would like to learn how to join us please click HERE

Mini-MAV, Swim Club

Are our entry level groups and will include swimmers brand new to Mavericks that have no swim team experience.  These kids must have a background in swimming and need to be familiar with freestyle and backstroke.  Mini-MAV and Club practice times for SPRING 2020 (click here). You must swim with the group you are enrolled in. Competition is optional.

The goal of this group will be to develop good freestyle and backstroke technique.  We will concentrate on proper body position, kicking, arm strokes and breathing.  We will also introduce all butterfly and breaststroke strokes, dives/starts, and turns while improving their fitness level through technique training.  They will be ready to move up to the Bronze team when the coaches feel that the swimmer is solid in all four competitive strokes and has improved in fitness level and has the appropriate maturity and conduct to move up.

Bronze Level

The group consists of kids that are either new to Mavericks or have moved up from Swim Club. If these kids are new to Mavericks, they need to be familiar with all four strokes.  The Bronze team practice times for SPRING 2020 (click here)  You must swim with the time group that you enroll  in. Competition is encouraged and is expected.  Effective January 2020 we are no longer accepting athletes who do not intend to compete into the Bronze roster group.

The Bronze team will focus on stroke development that will enable them to participate in competitions, fitness through technique training, and introduction to swim meets and goal setting. They will be improving the technique in all four strokes, starts, turns, and in-practice listening skills.  A swimmer will move up to the Silver team when listening skills have improved and the athlete is able to swim longer distances while maintaining proper technique.

Silver/Gold Level

This group consists of kids that are swimming at higher levels and achieving "B" and "A" times at meets. Silver/Gold practice times for SPRING 2020 (click here).  Competition is expected. Athletes who do not compete may be excused and their spots may be given to athletes who will and do compete.

The focus of this group will be to improve stroke technique, fitness, listening skills, swim meet participation, racing ability, and goal setting.  In this group, yardage will increase and training will focus on conditioning, and swim sets will increase in complexity.  This is also when swimmers will focus more on competitions. Promotion to the Gold team will take place when the swimmer displays a more serious and positive attitude, technique and conditioning have improved, and more focused goal setting has taken place.
