RMSC JANUARY INVITE…was a great meet on so many levels. Everyone swam very well showing the improvements they have been working very hard on during practices.  There were so many pleasantly surprised looks on faces after doing an event for the first time or after swimming lifetime best. This is all made possible due to the dedication that each of you have been showing each practice. It was a very successful meet all around, way to go BLUE WAVE!

POLAR PENTATHLON... An amazing opportunity for many of our swimmers to swim ALL FIVE events offered at the meet. What a great way to showcase our versatility, endurance, and dedication as swimmers! Additionally, this gave many swimmers the opportunity to swim an event they might not normally be entered in –what a tremendous learning experience, no matter the outcome! We had so many fantastic swims and, most importantly, many proud Blue Wave swimmers who felt they’d used what they’d learned in practice and executed their personal plans for their races brilliantly.

IM Xtreme Games...
A great meet allowing our 14 & Under athletes an opportunity to compete against some of the eastern region’s best swimmers. In order to compete they had to achieve 1800+ points in the USA Swimming’s IMX challenge. Everyone swam great due to the hard work they have been putting in during practice. It was an exciting meet to see so much great swimming!

Three reasons to avoid saying "I'm proud of you" Larisssa Dann
"I’m proud of you!"  How often do we utter this common parenting phrase, in moments of pleasure at our child’s latest achievement? With the best of intentions, we want to let our children know of our pride in them.
However – what messages might our children actually hear? What do they perceive - when a parent (or teacher) says "I’m proud of you"?
Some years ago I attended a parenting seminar, where the speaker incidentally mentioned avoiding the phrase "I’m proud of you".  For me, this was a huge take-away moment. Had I ever thought about the meaning behind these words?  What would replace this oh-so-common parenting expression?  And why should I stop using this phrase? MORE...
