I started swimming competitively late in life, my senior year in high school to be exact, but have always had a love for the water. Starting late gave me a unique perspective on swimming and training and it brought about our team's motto "NO LIMITS".
I work with every squad at some level but am the lead coach for the GREEN Tide & BLUE Crest squads.
Hailing from New Jersey, I swam for Rutgers University as well as ran Cross Country. My favorite events are the 200 & 400 IM but have a love of each event and stroke. Graduating with a BS in Exercise Science & Sports Studies in 2000 I decided to pursue a coaching career. At this point in my life I have coached every level from intercollegiate to beginners and have had wonderful opportunities to work alongside some great coaches. These experience have formed our team's philosophies towards building great character amongst everyone that swims for BLUE WAVE and believing that everyone can become as great as they want to become as well as building a strong team atmosphere.
I enjoy coaching because I get to see the kids develop as they move through the program and accomplish the goals they set out to do. That little smile or glint in their eye when something clicks after working with them makes this one of the best jobs in the world.

  • Herndon Aquatic club – Assistant Coach

I started swimming competitively early in life. Being a swimmer for many years, I learned valuable life lessons from my coach and teammates. I enjoyed swimming and decided to become a swimming coach. Together with my Chinese coach, we taught many children how to swim. We also trained my cousin to win a world record in the Women’s 200 Meter Individual Medley.

I have been a USA swimming coach at Herndon Aquatic Club since 2018. As a USA swimming coach and water safety advocate, helping children to stay safe in, on and around water is rewarding.

During these two years, we trained in a systematic way through a combination of games and learning. We divided our one-hour practice into three parts. The first part was 5-8 minutes of dry land exercise or a fun warm up activity. The second part included swim sets in the pool that focus on a combination of breathing and stroking techniques. Finally, we used the last 5 minutes for games like water polo or soldiers.

In 2019, I was selected to be a Potomac Valley Swimming (PVS) Long Course Zone coach. In March 2020, five of my age 11 and under swimmers made Junior Olympics.

I enjoy coaching because I like seeing children accomplish the goals that they set out to do. I like seeing kids smile and have fun in the pool. I want to be there for the kids to help and encourage them to become the best they can be. This energizes me and gives my life purpose.

See you at the pool. Go Blue wave!
