Non-Competitive Stroke Clinic and Pre-Team

 

Stroke Clinic

Ages: 9 & Up

1 practice (1 hour) per week offered either on Fridays or Sundays for 7-8 practices per series.

Cost: $190 per Series

Registration fee: $35 one-time annual registration, includes kick board, but no rubber swim fins. Those will need to be purchased separately. 

Description: This group is designed children ages 9 and up who wish to maintain their swimming conditioning for summer team or other sport competition. Swimmers will be instructed in all four competitive swim strokes with legal technique as well as dives. Emphasis will be placed on stroke instruction, formation of good practice habits, and proper lane etiquette.

Group Requirements: Must be able to complete 25 yards freestyle and backstroke with proper body position and breathing to the side for freestyle, arm recovery over the water etc. Previous swim team experience is not required.

Required Equipment: Competitive swimming suit, swim cap (for swimmers with long hair), goggles, rubber swim fins, kick board.

Pre-team

Ages: 8 & Under

1 practice (30 minutes) per week offered on Sundays for 7-8 practices per series.

Cost: $195 per Series

Registration fee: $35 one-time annual registration, includes kick board, but no rubber swim fins. Those will need to be purchased seperately

Description: This group is designed children ages 8 & Under who want to be on the swim team but do not yet have the skills and stamina to swim 1 length freestyle and 1 length backstroke with proper technique. Swimmers will be taught the basics of proper freestyle and backstroke technique, work on kicking and increasing stamina, as well as the beginnings of the diving progression. Our instructors are professional swim coaches registered with USA Swimming. Our student to teacher ratio is kept low on purpose to ensure high quality, frequent feedback for each swimmer. Registration is held to 4 swimmers per half hour of practice.

Group Requirements: Swimmers should be comfortable in 6+ feet of water. Swimmers should have mastered front float, back float, air exchange (blow bubbles from nose or mouth in water), fully submerge head and push off and glide 5 yards independently.

Required Equipment: Competitive swimming suit, swim cap (for swimmers with long hair), goggles, rubber swim fins, kick board.

Practice Times:

Mini 1

Ages: 6-7

1 practice (45 minutes) per week offered on Sundays for 7-8 practices per series.

Coach's Invitation Required

Cost: $190 per series, Registration fee: $35 one-time annual registration, includes kick board, but no rubber swim fins. Those will need to be purchased separately. 

Description: This group is designed to be a bridge from Pre-team to a competitive swim team program that swims multiple times per week. Children ages 6-7 Swimmers will be instructed in all four competitive swim strokes with legal technique as well as dives and flip turns. Emphasis will be placed on stroke instruction, formation of good practice habits, and proper lane etiquette.

Group Requirements: Must be able to complete 25 yards freestyle and backstroke with proper stroke technique and straight leg kick (no bicycle kicking for example). Swimmers should be able to recover arms over the water and breathing to the side for freestyle, arm recovery over water, and proper body position for back stroke. Previous swim team experience is not required.

Required Equipment: Competitive swimming suit, swim cap (for swimmers with long hair), goggles, rubber swim fins, kick board, mesh bag.

Practice times:

  • 4:30 - 5:15 PM **these dates/times are tentative and may be subject to change**

Registration and Payment Information

Registration for Clinic, Preteam, Mini 1

  • Tryouts are required for all new athletes prior to registration
  • After the try out, you will be notified if your athlete is accepted into the program and if so, given instructions on how to register on our website.
  • If you are new to MSSC, you will need to first create an account, add your and your swimmer’s information first.
  • You can register for one Series at a time or multiple at once

 

Payment Information

Please see the complete MSSC Financial policy for more information but in general:

  • Payment is required in full before the start of each Series
  • Invoices will be sent out on the first day of the series and should be paid within 1 week
    • Swimmers will not be allowed to practice if invoice is not paid by the second practice.
    • All equipment except kickboard will be invoiced as distributed.

  • All fees are non-refundable
  • All registrations are non-refundable once submitted and parents are responsible for the full cost of the program, even if swimmer has partial attendance or withdraws from the program.
