News from the Head Coach/ CEO
The March Madness continues in the pool with another swim meet underway in Richmond where 50 OCCS high school athletes are finishing their short course competition season at the Shamrock Showdown. Finals dive in tonight at 5:30pm and there is a live stream available (at a cost) https://swimrva.vhx.tv/
Last weekend at the Pirate Pacer, 300 racers from OCCS took over the meet with some exceptional swims to finish the short course racing season for most. The team achieved 1007 new personal best times including 138 first time swims on the weekend. There was one new team record set by Ariana Aldeguer (13) who took over the 100 IM team record for the 13-14 girls in 1:01.96. The previous record was set in January this year by Gabby Hawver (1:02.09).
Next week we will operate a normal practice schedule (except NTG and some senior select) Monday – Thursday. There will not be any regular group practices from Friday, March 31-Monday, April 10 (some groups will have practice on Monday, April 10).
Before you check out for spring break, please remember to do the following:
- Register for the awards extravaganza happening April 29. The deadline is Friday, March 31.
- Set up your raffle and sell some tickets. Friends and family you see during the break may be excited to see some of the amazing prizes including now three vacation rentals!!!
- If you’ve been wanting custom name OCCS caps, you have another opportunity to order them (BY SUNDAY 3/26!!)
