Please welcome Coach Joey Peppersack to the FISH Coaching staff.  We are super excited that Joye will be working with us across all practice groups.  His love and dedication to the sport of swimming will make us all stronger!

Joey Peppersack has joined the FISH swim club as an assistant coach after an extensive swim career of his own. Peppersack had his right leg amputated at the age of 4 and started swimming at nine years old. Peppersack swam with NOVA in Richmond for six years, University of Mary Washington varsity all four years, and was a United States national team member for six years. In 2017 he traveled to Germany and earned Gold in the 4x100 medley and 4x100 freestyle relays, plus a bronze in the 50 backstroke. In 2019 Peppersack went to Lima, Peru, to compete in the Para-Pan American games, where he received a silver medal in the 100m Backstroke. At the height of his career, he was selected to compete in the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics and placed 7th overall in the 100m Backstroke.

Peppersack also has prior coaching and teaching experience. He was the head coach of a summer league team and taught swimming lessons at the YMCA for two years.

Joey believes that all swimmers, regardless of current ability, have the potential to succeed through discipline, accountability, and commitment.
