The Mini Sharks

The Mini Sharks Pre-Competitive program is a supplementary program offered to current Hatfield Sharks members. Mini Sharks is designed to help prepare new or young swimmers to transition from basic swimming skills to swim team readiness.

Mini Sharks is for children ages 5-10, which includes:

  1. Basic stroke instruction
  2. An introduction to racing
  3. Turns
  4. Starts (diving)

In the pre-competitive level of swimming, swimmers learn the mechanics and begin to improve their skills in all four competitive strokes freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

Swimmers will work on stroke technique and drills designed to make their swimming easier and more efficient while developing enthusiasm for the sport of swimming.

Who should consider the mini sharks?

This is an excellent program for children who wish to learn how to swim strokes legally, learn to dive, and improve their swimming skills while gaining the benefit and experience of a team environment.

Mini Sharks will be taught by current Hatfield Sharks Coaches. In this smaller setting, coaches will be able to provide more individualized instruction to help each child gain the skills necessary to swim competitively.

Swimmers in Mini Sharks who are not yet ready to swim competitively will be given an opportunity to swim at home meets prior to the start of the meet.

Requirements:

Participants should be able to comfortably attempt to swim 25 meters in Freestyle and Backstroke. Head Coach Sarah Glisan will approve swimmers for this program.

NO parents/guardians/babysitters will be allowed on the pool deck or snack bar area at any time.

Mini sharks must exit the pool immediately at 10:55 in order for the pool to open to season pass holders promptly at 11:00 a.m.

Anyone who cannot follow this rule will be excused from the program.
