Clovis North Maintain Winning Streak Against Clovis West

Peter Fecht

Over a year ago the Broncos toppled the Golden Eagles in TRAC Dual Meets, with both boys and girls winning for the first time in school history. With all the momentum in their favor, Clovis North Swim and Dive was setting their sights on a dual League and CIF Championship. But history would have to wait. COVID-19 brought the 2020 Swim and Dive Season to a grinding halt. Many of our athletes began training at home, swimming in pools with bands, building home gyms to do dryland workouts. We saw our Broncos maintaining the momentum we had back last spring. The time was well spent as the Broncos swept the eagles in both JV and Varsity. JV Girls won 139 to 44, JV Boys won  104 to 72, Varsity Girls won 107 to 79 and Varsity Boys continued their winning streak for the past 5 years with 124 to 61 over Clovis West.

We have already have all six relays make their CIF Automatic Qualifying time and 22 CIF Automatic Individual Swims. Charlize Phillips 200 FR, 100 Fly, 100 FR (Lead-Off), Alexis Naranajo 200 FR, Meg Calumpang 200 IM & 100 Fly, Emily Chang 200 IM & 100 BR, Bianca Fernandez 50 FR & 100 FR, Sierra DePry 100 Fly, Ella Guffey 500 FR & 100 BK, Sydney Bowns 100 BK, Hayden Lambert 200 FR & 500 FR, Jeffery Forbes 200 FR & 500 FR, Gabriel Jett 100 Fly & 500 FR, Paul Lerro 100 Fly & 100 BK, Lucas Chang 100 BR. Gabriel Jett also broke the team record in the 500 FR with 4:28.57 just missing the All American Automatic time by two-tenths of a second.

Our divers came up big on the boards. The girls scored 2nd, 3rd, with Myl Luac and Grace Gonzales, respectively. The Boys went 1st, 2nd & 4th with Koda Hoover, Logan Marino, and Connor Rivas, respectively. In all our Broncos are showing us that even through many set back we are still making many improvements and keeping our goals in front of us. Our stampede can not be stopped.
