Swim Team Coaching Staff

Maddie King – Head Coach

Hello everyone!  My name is Maddie King and I am one of your coaches for this incredible team.  This will be my fourth year coaching this team, but my 17th year on the team overall.  This team is truly like a second family to me, and I have gained so many incredible memories and friendships from my time here.  I know I will treasure these memories for the rest of my life, and I would love to be the one who helps create those memories for our current swimmers.  When I am not hanging out with kids on the pool deck, I am at the University of Nevada, Reno pursuing Elementary Education with a minor in human development and family studies.  I can’t wait to see our swimmers smiling faces this May and can’t wait to start working hard and having fun!  Gooooo Ygnacio!

Haley Darr - Assistant Coach

Hey Seahorses!  I am so excited to be back for my third year coaching this amazing team!  I have been on Ygnacio Wood since I was 5 years old and I am so lucky to be able to spend another year with this seahorse family.  I am finishing my second year at Diablo Valley College with plans to become a pediatric nurse.  Being on Ygnacio has shown me that I want to continue to work with and help children for the rest of my life.  This team is truly something special and I hope to continue to lead like the coaches before me have.  I just finished my second year playing water polo at Diablo Valley College, where I was the captain of the team and am currently swimming my second season with the school.  Additionally, I am an assistant coach for Clayton Valley High School's swim team.  I am so excited for this new summer season to start so we can create even more incredible memories.  Gooo Ygnacio!

Evan Lonestar – Assistant Coach

Hi everyone!  My name is Evan Lonestar and I am thrilled to be one of your new coaches for this new swim season!  Currently I am a college student at Gonzaga University where I am planning to major in Human Physiology.  I began my first year swimming on this team when I was 8 years old and have loved every second of it year after year.  What I love most about Ygnacio is the great memories and lifelong friends I have made in the past few years.  This team has taught me to work hard for the things I want to accomplish whether it be for the sport or in my life.  I hope to bring much enthusiasm and energy for everyone on the team starting this May!  I can’t wait to work hard and help make exciting memories this upcoming summer!  Go Seahorses!

Cole Welsh – Assistant Coach

How’s it going seahorses? My name is Cole Welsh. I’m thrilled to be back at Ygnacio this season, now as a full time coach.  I currently swim at Diablo Valley College and previously swam for Northgate High School, Valley Vista, and of course Ygnacio Wood. On the deck, I coached at Ygnacio Wood last season and coached at Northgate High School this season. I can’t wait for the summer season to start up and have everyone back in the water working hard.  Let’s go Ygnacio!!!

Alyssa House – Assistant Coach

Hi Seahorses!  My name is Alyssa House. I  joined Ygnacio over a decade ago, and wrapped up my last season as a swimmer last summer.  Ygnacio is truly the best team, and I’m honored and beyond excited to be a coach.  I am currently studying Communications at DVC, and am working at Berean Christian High School as an assistant swim coach.  I swam all four years while in high school, and was then asked to join the coaching staff.  Being a high school coach for 2 years has taught me more about this sport than I ever thought possible. Seeing kids and teenagers break through and accomplish their goals, in and out of the pool, is beyond rewarding, and I’m eager to bring what I’ve learned through that experience to the Ygnacio deck.  I can’t wait to kick off another amazing summer at the pool that has my whole heart.  Goooooo Ygnacio!

Jimmy Costello – Swimmer Coach

Hey everybody! I’m Jimmy Costello and I am so excited to be starting off my third season on YW as a swimmer coach! I am currently swimming at DVC as well as majoring in Economics. Between high school at Clayton Valley, college, and various other rec teams, I am hoping to bring a unique point of view to the already amazing coaching staff. Looking forward to another season of hard work and great memories with my second family! Get ready Seahorses!

Jenna Galli - Pre Season Coach

Hello seahorses!! My name is Jenna Galli and I am so excited to be back for another year of preseason!  I swam on Ygnacio Wood since I was 7, and it has been a great to come back and experience it all again through a coaching perspective.  I really enjoyed my time last year, getting to meet all the swimmers and prepare them for a great swim season. It is amazing to come and watch meets to see how much they improve!  I am honored to be apart of this team, which has something special no other team has.  Looking forward to another great preseason this year!
