SCOTTSDALE SQUIDS SWIM TEAM OVERVIEW

Philosophy
The Scottsdale Swim Team (the Squids) is a family-oriented, parent-supported recreational swim team for children ages 4 to 18.  As a team, we are committed to providing a fun and nurturing environment for swimmers of all abilities where quality instruction and competition are balanced with family-oriented activities and team building.

Our goal is to have an opportunity for each swimmer, regardless of ability, do his or her best, gain recognition for their efforts, foster fellowship among our members, promote sportsmanship and have a lot of fun.

Membership
To join our swim team you must be a member of Scottsdale Swim & Tennis Club (some exceptions apply to our 15-18 year old swimmers). Scottsdale Swim Club and Swim Team online registration is open!

  • Our season consists of 12-14 dual meets, a league championship meet and countless social activities.

Commitment
Practices  Practices are held daily Monday through Friday.  The preseason runs from April 12-June 11 with afternoon practices.  The regular season runs from June 14-July 16 with morning practices.  We understand swimmers may have other commitments or vacations during the course of the season but we do encourage our swimmers to attend practice as much as possible.  Daily swim practice is important for swimmers to learn stroke technique and to build strength and stamina, as well as to build rapport with teammates and coaches.

Swim Meets From late May to mid July, we average 2 meets per week held Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Additionally, we participate on Invitational meets and a season-ending League Championship Meet.

Parent Commitment The number of jobs that are required to be worked by each family changes from year to year and is determined by registration numbers and job needs. On average, we require each family to work 10 jobs (meet jobs or social event jobs are available).
