Otter Family

We are excited to be planning for the 2021 Recreational Swim Season!!! While there are still many unknowns of how it will look, we wanted to share what we are putting together and what information we have now. The WHO board is hard at work on creating as “normal” a swim season as possible working to keep swimmers and coaches safe and follow current guidelines. As you know, things are changing by the day and we will communicate often as we have updated information to share. Below is the information we have so far:

Practice Schedule Walnut Heights Otters - Schedules Based upon what we know at this time, we are moving forward with scheduling regular age group practices. We will adjust times and groups as necessary to ensure safe swimming for all.

Meets While we hope to be able to have dual meets this season we are exploring all options to be able to let our kids compete. Whether that be a virtual meet, in person or some combination thereof is to be determined. As always, meets are not required for swimmers and if you are not comfortable and/or are not able to not participate. You can find our tentative meet schedule for the [email protected] Walnut Heights Otters - Meet Schedule .

Team Functions Swim team is all about the social and we love hanging out with our WHO friends. We will do our best to build team spirit and have fun as we always do here at WHO! We are hoping to have activities both at and away from the pool as local regulations and conditions allow. Please make sure to look at our WHO Team Calendar to keep up to date on all the WHO events. Here are few events already scheduled:

Time Trials –Saturday 5/22 we will hold time trials to get our swimmers first times locked. As with everything this season, we will provide more details as soon as available.

New Family Orientation  – via Zoom. This is a great opportunity for all families new to the Otters to get to know our team, learn all about our events, meet our Co-Presidents (Eric and Corey) and our Coaches and get an overview of all the great opportunities to volunteer. You won’t want to miss it! Watch your email for details.

Spirit Wear It is not a season if we do not have our Spirit Wear and show our WHO Pride. We will have more information coming soon with our WHO logo and options to buy.

Don’t forget WHO Swimsuits are available at Elsmore Swim Shop - Check out the options @ https://elsmoreswim.com/teams/california/summer/walnut-heights.html  and visit their store at 2054 Tread Blvd Ste D in Walnut Creek (Countrywood shopping center at the corner of Bancroft and Treat)

Season Jobs Our swim season takes a village and we need all hands on deck! In order to have a great experience, WHO families (with the exception of families with only 15-18 swimmers or Otter Pups) are required to hold both Season (per meet) and Spirit Jobs. More information on jobs will be sent once we have a better idea of what the season will look like. There will still be a per family job commitment which will look different than past years given the possibility of virtual (or fewer than normal) meets. As soon as we have specific information to share on the jobs requirements and sign ups for this season we will let you all know! For general questions regarding swim jobs, please reach out to Darcy Guellert @ [email protected].
