Clinic Logistics / Basic Information

  • The LT Swim Clinic is designed to prepare swimmers for a competitive environment.  This is not a “learn to swim” program.  Coaches will not be in the water with swimmers.  To be eligible for this program, swimmers must be able to complete a 25-yard lap of freestyle unassisted.
  • Due to capacity restrictions, no parents, siblings, or spectators will be allowed to enter the pool deck.
  • Groups will be capped so that no more than 3 swimmers start at each end of the lane.
  • 3-4 Assistant Coaches will be on deck at every swim clinic practice session.
  • Head Coach Andrew Preston will be on deck overseeing the Assistant Coaches.
  • After each practice session, the Covid-19 Monitor will disinfect all surfaces, shower handles and restrooms, and will check the chemical levels in the pool.
  • Social distancing amongst swimmers: Maximum of 36 swimmers in the water, across our 6 lanes of the pool.  3 or fewer swimmers per lane will begin and end their laps on the North end of the pool, while 3 or fewer swimmers per lane will begin and end their laps on the South end of the pool.
  • Coaches and swimmers will maintain a minimum 6 feet of distance from one another at all times. 6 foot distance markers will be clearly placed on the pool deck.
  • Swimmers will bring their own gear.  Please make sure that your swimmer is equipped with  goggles, towel and water bottle.  Swim caps are required for all swimmers with hair that goes past the collar.
  • Swimmers must be able to put on their own goggles, carry their own belongings, and wrap themselves in their own towel at the end of practice.  Coaches will not be able to help swimmers with handling gear at all.  If you are concerned that your swimmer will be unable to manage his or her own goggles, please strongly consider whether this is the right program for your swimmer.
  • Swimmers must arrive dressed and ready to enter the pool.  Changing onsite is not allowed.
  • Per Health Department guidelines, swimmers of all ages and all Coaches will be required to wear a mask at all times while on deck.  Swimmers may remove their masks immediately before getting in the pool and must replace masks immediately after getting out of the pool.
  • Entry access to the pool deck will be via the west gate.  Exit from the pool deck will be via the east (main) gate.  Both gates will be propped open during practice hours to eliminate the use of the door handle/keypad, and monitored by the coaching and lifeguard staff.

 Arrival and Departure Flow

  • Upon the arrival of each swimmer to the parking lot, the coach will ask basic Covid-19 questions.  Anyone who is not feeling well will be asked to refrain from participating in clinics.  Coaches will direct each swimmer to a Dry Land Training area.
  • After Dry Land Training, a Coach will:

Lead swimmers through entrance, verifying use of provided sanitizer

Assign each swimmer to a lane and side of the pool (#1-6, North side vs. South side).

Ask each swimmer to drop personal belongings at a designated spot on the lawn.

  • Upon completion of practice, each swimmer exits the pool, towels off, and collects gear from the designated area.  The swimmer then puts on his/her mask and exits the pool deck via the propped-open east (main) gate without delay, and without touching any surfaces.  Sanitizer will also be available at the exit. Swimmers will adhere to social distancing guidelines until they are safely inside personal vehicles.
  • Swimmers waiting for parents to pick them up after practice will stand 6 feet apart, at designated social distancing markers.
  • Timeliness for drop-off and pickup will be essential to the success of this program.
  • There will be 5 minute buffers between practices to prevent cross traffic.  This time will also be used to disinfect surfaces throughout the facility.

LT Facility Hazard Mitigation Measures

  • Locker room changing areas will be unavailable.
  • Restrooms will be available on an as-needed basis, but swimmers are encouraged to use the restroom at home. The group-specific Lifeguard will disinfect restrooms after each use.
  • Outdoor showers will be unavailable except for emergency use.  Please plan for your swimmer to shower at home.  If the shower is used, the Covid monitor will disinfect the faucet.
  • All swimmers will be required to bring their own water bottles for hydration.  The shared drinking fountain will be covered and inaccessible.
  • Pool furniture will remain in storage and unavailable for use.
  • The diving board will be closed and unavailable for use.
  • The Toddler Pool will be unavailable for use during practice.
  • The Lifeguard Office will be completely off-limits to swimmers.
